A bright idea …

So there's not much room in this in little kit for putting lights in so here are the main parts that are going to need butchered.. err I mean modified to make room, as you can see I have already made a start by removing the front locating pin in the engine nacelle, I think I am going to have to thin the walls a little too in order for a 3mm LED to fit

East of Scotland Model Show 

This weekend saw the annual East of Scotland Model Show put on by IPMS Dundee, which is the club I have recently joined. Unfortunately due to work commitments I was only able to attend for the last hour of the show but still there was plenty to see, a fantastic number of entries to the competition all of which were superb, the club displays from all the attending clubs were all top quality and there were of course plenty of temptations provided by the visiting vendors! 

I didnt grab many photos as arriving straight from work and in somewhat of a rush I only had my phone with me but these are some of my favourite builds from the show, hopefully next year I’ll be able to attend properly and get some builds in the competition myself

'etekeyerrinwuf

Printed the title plaque for our Sunspot model. 'etekeyerrinwuf is the actual name of the starship in the original Inmararräo, the language of the people who inhabit it. It literally means "Sunspot", or "black speck in the right eye of the Great One".

Oh, heck, here's the etymology of that:

'etekeye is a root derived from the original Fenekere 'eteqeye, meaning "sun" or "right eye of the Great One".

rrin is "blackness".

wuf is "tiny thing".

Inmararräo basically does compound words where the each root is a modifier for each successive root, and the final root is the key noun of the word.

Solar Panel Saga

Why do I get hung up so much on silly little things, so the saga of the solar panel colour is starting to drag on a bit now, I started by putting down a base of Bronze, then put a clear blue over the top and toned this down using Tamiya Smoke. I’m still not entirely happy with it and am kind of regretting not just painting them Gloss Black but it is what it is and I spent too much time messing about on this so it’s time to get a coat of Klear down and mask them panels up once dry.
