The sniper rifles signature red dot moved from John’s chest, to right between his eyes - a kill shot. Gennie’s eyes followed it as it did so, and so did John’s. He smirked. “You can’t kill me, and you know why? Because we’re the Peaky fuckin’ Blinders!” 

In that instant a wave of dread washed over Genevieve, there was something eerily familiar about this scene, as though she had seen it, lived it, before. She wasn’t sure how she knew, but in that moment, Genevieve Lock knew that this would not end well.

The shot  was quick, and as though she had known it was coming, Gennie didn’t even flinch. John looked at her, his Gennie, the love of his life. The pain from the gunshot was nothing compared to the pain of knowing that this may be the last time that he ever looked at her.

what would a modern gennie and john be like?

I was actually thinking about this yesterday cause I want to add Gen to my OC page but I couldn’t figure out what her twitter/insta would be like haha but anyway here we go:

I saw the prompt Peaky Blinders in modern times. How would the love story between Genie and Tom be in modern time?

I’ve not 100% decided whether, in a modern au, gen and tom would be together. Mostly because in my modern au, john doesn’t die and lowkey I really do love the idea of gennie and tommy being together. However, if we were to say that gen and tom got together in a modern version of violent delights I think they would start of as quite a secret relationship, they don’t want john to find out and they don’t want other people to either until they figure out themselves whats happening between them. Because of that, tommy would take her on dates in different cities, liverpool, manchester, leeds, anywhere that isn’t birmingham or somewhere they will be recognised. It really gives them time to get to know one another outside of the peaky blinders and I do think it would be a really sweet way for them to fall for each other.

Would modern Gen be shipped with John or Tom?

Honestly I think that lowkey depends on whether modern John lives or dies. But that being said, things are different these days and an arranged marriage is a lot less likely so I can’t see that Esme would’ve really come between them in the modern world tbh.

• day trips to aquariums• gen pointing out the ugliest fish and going “thats you”• going to ikea and pretending that the kitchen/bedroom scenes are their house• gen volunteering at the RSPCA - john coming to visit and stroke the dogs• they run a joint instagram where they rate crisps out of 10• making sure to comment on crispy-ness and crunch

“forget it. you fucking suck.” modern gen and arch

“Archie!” Gennie bellowed from her bedroom, the door was closed and she was practically half way into the back of her wardrobe but she was certain he’d heard her, he was simply choosing to ignore her. “Archibald Francis Lock!” She yelled again, using his full name this time, a special sort of torture usually used only by her aunt Vicky when she was particularly mad at her son, but on occasion used by Gennie, as emotional blackmail. 

“What? What do you want.” Archie bounded into her bedroom, a frown set on his handsome features. 

“Where’s my black hoodie?” Gennie’s voice came from within her wardrobe and Archie laughed, settling himself down on her large double bed and busying his hands by thumbing through the book on her bedside table - taking a moment to purposely move her bookmark, losing her place entirely. 

“You mean my black hoodie?” He corrected, slowing his voice to emphasise his words. Gennie leant back on her ankles, popping her head around the wardrobe door with a frown. 

She tossed aside a couple of jumpers, purposely aiming for her cousin. “You said I could have it.”

“Yeah, when you were hungover, on the couch, watching Finding Nemo about three months ago, not forever.” Archie caught the pink fluffy jumper she’d thrown in his direction and held it up against himself, raising a brow.

“Suits you.” She quipped with a small smile. “But seriously though, where is it? I’m going out with John to a bonfire that Tommy’s throwing…something about the Queen, her birthday or something I don’t know. I need to be warm.” 

“Oh well if it’s for my boy John…” Archie stood up, and Gennie mirrored his movements, a pretty smile illuminating her features when she realised just how easily Archie was giving in. “Then definitely not, you stole him from me so now you can freeze.” 

“I-what?!” Gennie asked incredulously, and was met only with a smirk. “Oh forget it, you fucking suck.” She was about to throw another discarded item of clothing at him but he was already halfway out the door. “Aunt Vicky!” Gennie shouted, and Archie stopped in his tracks - she was pulling the mother card.

“Archie do as your cousin says…” Vicky’s voice floated up the stairs and Gennie folded her arms across her chest, a triumphant smirk set firmly upon her face.

Archie popped his head back into the bedroom and glared. “Oh it’s on Genevieve, it’s on.”
