Demonetization and the Politics of Supporting and Opposing it
Demonetization and the Politics of Supporting and Opposing it
Demonetization of the 500 and 1000 Rupee notes have been the main thing in discussion in India and around the world by Indians. I had been quiet without a ‘Master Stroke Jubilance’ or Opposing it Completely. This is because I do not understand much about currency, black or white, my economics is too bad and my relationship with money has always been bipolar. So I wrote a silly lighter post on…

n 2002, the Indian Western state of Gujarat witnessed some of the most violent religious riots in the country’s recent history. The number of those killed is disputed, but more than a thousand people, mostly Muslims, died. Some human rights groups have pointed the finger at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was Gujarat’s…

India with Modi
I have been closely following the way Modi has been leading India. All the issues, good bad and the ugly. It is by no means an overstatement that he has captured the heart of many in India and abroad. Some like it some don't but that true with all great leader.
While there was a massive overdrive with the rallies and media events all of a sudden after the election there has been what I can only call a uncharacteristic silence by PM Modi.
while I am a long term what people are calling Bhakt of BJP I did wonder with all the media and hype in press that may be India has made a mistake in choosing Modi. But this was not because of Modi but because I don't think Indian politics or people are ready for Modi. A progressive relentless leader who will stop at nothing. Rome was not built in a day also we need to remember it takes time to decipher the country situations before you start making changes.
I believe Modi has done just that. He has spent time on things that he knew well first and things that needed analysis and planning are starting to come out now.
While opposition is essential in any democracy opposing things for no reason or for small issues is not real modern day politics. We should learn from other progressive democracies and should oppose on grounds and not people.
I believe the positive vibe in and out of India is loud enough for every one to hear. And we can already see fundamental changes coming to make India shining star on the world stage. While we have always been a great nation without doubt we now have to look at changing the way India is seen outside and grow with the world. Sabka Saath sabka vikas I truly believe that Modi has what it takes to take india forward and his silence nothing but his way of saying I will not shout and I will not scream but I will act and deliver on what I promised.
All Indians should get together and support Modi for next 3+ years and then make up your mind if it was good or bad. Dragging Modi in every debate and controversy is poor politics we should rise up from that and not repeat Bihar.
Good bless India.

US Secretary of State John Kerry told Narendra Modi that India's refusal to ratify a key WTO trade deal sent the wrong message, as he met the country's new prime minister for the first time on Friday. During the meeting -- aimed at breaking the ice with a leader once shunned by Washington -- Kerry told Modi India's stance was at odds with his desire to open up the country's economy. "We note that the prime minister is very focused on his signal of open to business and creating opportunities and therefore the failure of implementing TFA (Trade Facilitation Agreement) sends a confusing signal and undermines that very message that he is seeking to send about India," a US official quoted Kerry as saying. "While we understand India's food security concerns, the Trade Facilitation Agreement is one that will bring tremendous benefit, particularly to the world's poor. Source: AFP
