Happy 25th anniversary to The Avalanches' debut masterpiece, Since I Left You.

This is possibly the most detailed and best mixed record I have ever had the life-affirming honor to lay my ears upon. Whenever my day gets gloomy, I can take comfort in the tropical travelogue portrayed through the album's chill, cruise ship journey. The multitude of genres and influences spread out across this album takes you on a trip through time and space, from the exotic 60's, to the comedy of spaghetti westerns, to the funky 70's, all while blowing a fresh spring breeze through you.

I've found the world so anew.

Cut Copy “Hanging Onto Every Heartbeat”

One of my first loves as far as contemporary electronic bands go. I didn’t pay attention to this album when it came out, which is weird because In Ghost Colours is one of my desert island records (and I deeply regret not buying it on vinyl). Anyway, Zonoscope is no In Ghost Colours, but if it were by any other group, I’d love that band. Also... like a lot of Cut Copy, this song’s backing track reminds me of Fleetwood Mac.

(That said, I’ve seen Cut Copy play three times, and they seemed to get weirdly bloated and dull as a live show after In Ghost Colours... or I just saw them on an off night.)
