did an all nighter i think last night, here are the albums i listened to over the course of it
Deadbeat, Tame Impala (2025)
The Dream Synopsis EP, The Last Shadow Puppets (2016)
Purple Rain, Prince and The Revolution (1984)
Amnesiac, Radiohead (2001)
Kid A, Radiohead (2000)
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles (1967)
Revolver, The Beatles (1966)
OK Computer, Radiohead (1997)
Everything You've Come To Expect, The Last Shadow Puppets (2016)
NOTOK, Radiohead (1997-2017)
Pet Sounds, The Beach Boys (1966)
a thought per album;
Deadbeat
unfortunately underrated but i see why. even tho i love it to bits & pieces. it's not "kaleidoscopic" in the same way he's always been before — which is fine, but i guess that's what the ppl who can't feel this album find themselves missing in this sound... still, love love it!! such an amazing album & such fantastic electronics
The Dream Synopsis EP
Purple Rain
swiftly becoming some of my favourite recorded music ever despite being six tracks of which four are covers & two were already recorded. nevertheless. this is a cornerstone record to me... <3
prince what a diva i really should have more of your records loll i love this & around the world in a day to piecess
Amnesiac
even though i think Kid A is better. i think i like Amnesiac more... i think it's the odder, more acoustic + fuzzy / jazzy rhythmic feel to the album... less landscape lush and more portrait lush. does that make sense? as a psych musician i theoretically should like Kid A's landscape lush more. and i really really do love it
Kid A
i definitely think Kid A hits harder than Amnesiac as a cohesive whole. i think it might be genuinely the case that Life In A Glasshouse is what tips the scale over the edge for Amnesiac. either way — Kid A is so fantastic!! imagine a rock band cover of idioteque. i should make that happen
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
hhhhh it's been so long since i listened to it. and it felt like listening to it all for the first time & yet felt so familiar and homelike. love
good music makes itself a home for you to be in the span of the short time it spends with you
Revolver
the same to this. my favourite album of all time. how many genres & atmospheres + different universes explored over the course of three-minute songs. the album is only about thirty-five minutes. & every minute occupies such an amazing space. turn off your mind relax and float downstream...
OK Computer
what good stuff ... such colours on this album that i wasn't expecting when i heard people describe radiohead as a straight rock band until Kid A. honestly Kid A isn't that shocking of a progression from the stuff on this album. idk why it generally gets described as a mad upside-down switch in direction — i guess it must have felt like that at the time. but really, this is great stuff. i see why this album is their Thriller, even if i like some of their other work more!!
Everything You've Come To Expect
cinematic pop and rock that occupies a fab space between sharp rocking indie and glossy lush ballads... alex turner is here, who you might know best as the singer for Arctic Monkeys. gotta love an orchestra. they r good for the soul every now and then... in my head this album is next to Dummy & Melody Nelson for defining cinematic pop to me.
NOTOK
notok is the disc of collected b-sides & unreleased songs from the OK Computer re-release. it's amazing... love to bits! !
Pet Sounds
i never really thought about vocal harmonies til i heard this record. what a beautiful time. i do feel as though, despite the Beach Boys overwhelming association with sunshine and the day — this record was made for the nighttime. idk, i feel like i might be considered insane for that opinion, but it's a good time!
hit the audio limit but if i could choose a song, it'd probably be God Only Knows.
(another insane opinion i have is that i find myself liking Smiley Smile more than Pet Sounds. i know it's insane. i can't explain...)
great albums <3
