Opinion : Caleb shouldn't have become a route, instead become an antagonist and still let him be obsessed with MC and be weird, it would've made the exploration of the pseudoincest/incest trope more interesting... And actually better. I mean, you can have the trope explored without making an entire route about it, can't you?
Hope what I said doesn't come across as me being a "fan" (read - romanticize) for the troupe, like... I'm already thinking of leaving the game behind for good, haven't touched it in so long, tho I do miss Rafayel... Yeah can't really see the game as the same (and RIP my phone cuz a house system? Nah man)
Lol, well, hey there - I'm alright, just existing rofl XD (Don't worry, Anon, I'm just yanking ya- Been awhile since my inbox was used-)
Anyways I actually agree but I'd go further and say Love and Deepspace as a whole had so much potential to be an actual game with fleshed out story but CHOOSES to be cheap Gacha/the Big Fish in a Little Pond because it knows it don't got the balls to be able to stand with actual video games.
I will say your take doesn't sound like it romanticizes the trope (Hell you're actually doing more with it than the company ever could) but I think looking at LADS and expecting deeper just is a fool's game. Like, please, I've seen puddles and WHB Characters with more depth than it. You're asking for more because LADS isn't giving you what you need, and it happens with games like these.
As for if you should quit it, my recommendation will always be if you're not actively playing the game/involved, you should rip the bandaid off and do it.
I did it with Obey Me when the story stopped serving. I did it with WHB when the story/content ceased being enjoyable. And I did it with LADS when I realized there was nothing it could do to reinvest me in the story/it as a whole.
Loved Rafayel, Mammon, and Satan all the same but I don't love them enough to let them take up space on my phone you feel me?
So ultimately, it's your choice, but yeah... Caleb and LADS, in general, are a mess.
