Okay. Right. How do I even begin this post?
Hethe, it sounds like that one Black Mirror episode one of my human coworkers made me suffer through that one time. I hate that this is a thing. Ugh.
I'll just come right out and say it. About 60% of the big pop idols in the Elevrium right now have Purple Rose ties.
You know the ones I mean. Young, usually female but not always, the kind who perform stuff you're not really supposed to listen to the lyrics of. Purple Rose manufactures them and grooms them like... well, the closest thing would be the K-pop industry on Ersis.
Anyway if you listen to the lyrics they're kind of horrifying. Here's an excerpt from one– namely, Power (Give It All) by the world famous girl group Shining35.*
I can never go back/And I don't want to/You've slipped inside of my soul/Now everything in my world revolves around you/I was never in control/And I'll give it all, and I'll give it all, and I'll give it all
Or this one– A Thousand Neon Stars by Vivienne Impulse.
Tonight is all I have with you/So don't take this away/Under a thousand neon stars/Is where my heart will stay/So wrap me in your loving arms/And tell me that you own me/Addicted to the neon haze/The only one who knows me
Of course, this doesn't exactly stick out on the surface. Obsessive love has driven some of the greatest works of Dekn art. Anyone who's ever read Augu'ust Laurent can tell you that. But if you take a look at who's manufacturing and selling these artists, and who's buying them, it becomes a little alarming.
They're all signed to the same label– Ariadne Records. Further research into this company shows that the vast majority of its executives are Purple Rose members, with few non-members being allowed to work for the label at high levels. But the artists themselves NEVER openly proclaim themselves to be such, even though they're all there in the membership manifest, and some have been in for a... startlingly long time. They're very careful about how they present themselves, or someone is. Most of them are presented as positive, squeaky clean role models, and targeted at kids and teenagers. I think Shanna even had a Vivienne Impulse poster on her wall when she was younger, which is terrifying in hindsight.
My theory is that this is the Society of the Purple Rose trying to normalize itself in greater Dekn society. To make the worship of their "god" palatable to a wider audience by concealing it until it's barely recognizable.
Anyway, I've just discovered this, so most of it's just conjecture. But you can do what you like with this information.
*side note, look up #35 in the Ars Goetia. They've been hiding in such plain sight it can hardly even be considered hiding anymore.
