MOITI Launches Students and Tech Entrepreneurs Retention Forum Series
Switzerland has an openness towards international talents. In average, 74% of post-docs, 52% of professors, 57% of scientists, and 38% of all inventors are non-Swiss nationals. Given this background, the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment chose swissnex Boston to launch their forum series on Retaining Students and Tech Entrepreneurs, as part of a broader policy of promoting innovation across Massachusetts. The Administration of Massachusetts is leading the push to promote our world-class institutions, global companies, leading technology sectors and entrepreneurship incubators and accelerators to encourage talent to remain here in Massachusetts. During the forum, Swiss students and entrepreneurs learned about existing and future visa programs (the most pressing topic of all), mentorship, internship and employment opportunities, entrepreneurial prospects, and company funding options across various fields, including life sciences, clean energy and the technology sectors.
The event held on April 16 included an impressive roundtable discussion and featured speakers such as Akhil Nigam, Co-Founder, MassChallenge; Tim Rowe, Founder and CEO, Cambridge Innovation Center; Eric Nakajima, Assistant Secretary for Innovation Policy, Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development; Richard Elam, Director, Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment; Sandra Kreis, Senior Manager of Business Development, Massachusetts Clean Energy Center; Colin Donnelly, Government Relations and Policy Associate, Massachusetts Life Sciences Center; Brendan Greally, International Project Manager, Massachusetts Technology Collaborative; and Alan Pampanin, Founder, Pampanin Law Offices. The roundtable was moderated by MOITI Director Richard Elam.
