Camping along the Mojave Road for the weekend. I picked a spot in the middle of a volcanic field. These cinder cones are geologically young, only about 10,000 years old. There are at least ten extinct cinder cones here.
My campsite is right along one of the younger lava flows, in the shadow of a massive singular chunk of lava, possibly a giant volcanic bomb.
