Tutorial

I wanted to help a pal of mine so I am going to make a ref of what I do when I draw. 

I usually start with a body sketch that just uses shapes to get what I want out of the figure

This is the shapes I am talking aboot!

Then i do a base line of the figure to kinda help me get an idea of how the figure is going to look, I’m using Huey for this example. I also add things that are in the picture as well, or at least in the minimal what the character is holding, like the gun and the cigarette

So then I do line art, I usually do a rough sketch but I was getting sleepy so i skipped right to the finalized one. Take your time with it and don’t rush, smooth lines, let the character shape your lines. Huey is slouched, relaxed (sorta). Making sure he looks like he is sitting

Next is the base colour! Just, the colour that is going to be mixed and played with but is his basic tones and such. 

Then ba-boom, I use shading/tint and blending to make shadows and lights and try to make the background without using line art to make it look a bit more realistic.  Details like shadows and the smoke are key, also same with the line art you do. He’s got a blank look and is sitting but not relaxed Then I just name the piece based off what I was feeling while making it, this one is called “Rough day.”
