Mokushiroku:
Awakening
Shiroku Hatake was born in the city of Kyoto Japan. His father, a wealthy businessman, treated Shiroku as his pride and groomed him as his heir. It was because of this that Shiroku got to travel the world. Most of his young life was spent going from Europe to America to China and other nations across the world. He finally settled down for his final years of schooling and returned to Kyoto. His father continued his travels which meant Shiroku was left alone with his mother.
One day as he walked home from school Shiroku began to take notice of someone following him. After many blocks of being followed Shiroku armed his small pistol his father got him during their travels. He lured them into an alley way and then turned on them pulling out the pistol.
The person he saw was not ordinary. He was exceedingly tall and had a very well built physique. He walked towards Shiroku with total confidence and zero fear of the gun in his hand. Shiroku squeezed three shots off.
To his shock and surprise within the blink of his eyes firing his gun the man appeared next to him. What was he? How did he manage to move that fast? These were the thoughts that came to his mind. His shock was pushed to a new level when he heard the bullets rattle on the ground.
“Sorry kid but orders are orders”.
A strong kick sent Shiroku flying into the alley wall. He felt multiple bones shatter as he hit the wall. Before he had the chance to hit the ground the man was in front of him. Somehow Shiroku could feel his feet weren’t on the ground. Then it hit him, a pain worse than anything he’d felt before.
He began to cough up blood and was struggling to breathe. Looking down Shiroku saw he’d been skewered with a long blade. He could feel the life begin to drain from his body and the blade was drawn from his body. He couldn’t utter any words as he hit the ground and watch the man begin to walk away.
“You will not die here.” proclaimed a voice in the darkness.
Shiroku felt the pain in his body cease and he was able to rise to his feet. The man stopped walking and he drew his blade once more.
“I knew it couldn’t be that easy.”
He turned to charge Shiroku once more but this time way different. The man was astonishingly slower. Shiroku could actually see him running towards him. The entire world seemed different as if he had gained knowledge of the magic properties of the world around him.
The man leaped into the air and somehow pushed himself forward speeding toward Shiroku with his blade positioned for a killing blow.
“Kido shield!” The words left Shiroku’s mouth before he even processed them.
A magical barrier appeared and blocked the man’s attack. He flipped backwards and came to strike again. Shiroku had an attack flash across his mind and with no time to process he acted
“Dragon fist!” He yelled as he threw a punch and from that punch came a flaming vortex as wide as the alley way.
When the attack was over Shiroku scanned the alley to see what had became of the mystery assassin. Surely he couldn’t have dodged that.
“I knew Lord Thanatos wouldn’t let you die so easily. Too bad for you that you still have no clue how to use your power. I have to admit I was a bit stunned to see you able to track my movements much less produce a barrier to block my attack. Oh well, it was nice to see you put up a fight but I still have an order to follow.”
The man jumped down from the roof of the building and began running down the wall. Shiroku knew he had to do something or he’d die. He took a stance and began shooting fire balls from his hands.
“Nice try but too slow. Keep up with this.” With those words the assassin disappeared.
Shiroku felt his presence at the last second and realized he was behind him. He managed to erect a barrier just in time to stop the blade from piercing him. However, he didn’t see the sweeping kick coming at him. It connected, shattered Shiroku’s shield and sent him flying down the alley. The kick wasn’t as damaging as before. He got up to his feet again just in time to dodge a stabbing thrust from the man’s blade. Shiroku spun his body and launched a counter attack.
“Thunder punch!”
Shiroku’s hand was surrounded with electrical energy that exploded when it connected with the man. It knocked him through one of the walls in the alley. Shiroku was stunned, as the fight drug out he was becoming better. Now he knew the man had to be beaten. No one could survive being knocked through a wall.
“Okay now this is getting annoying.”
The sound of his voice sent chills down Shiroku’s spine. How? How was he still alive? Was this man immortal?
“It seems the longer I take it easy the longer you have to learn so I’m going to finish this.”
Shiroku felt a boom of energy come from the man. It was as if something in him unlocked.
“Kendo, gate 1: the gate of beginnings, open!”
Shiroku could see a glowing aura around his blade. The man swung his blade and a massive wave of energy shot toward him. Shiroku managed to dodge the attack but was caught off guard and slashed across the chest. He hit the ground in a tumble as he felt the searing pain across his chest.
Shiroku managed to stand to his feet once more. He could feel his new found energy begin to deplete. He summoned and focused all of his energy into his hands.
“This ends here. Die!” Screamed the man as he dashed towards Shiroku.
Shiroku took a stance “dodge this, spirit wave!”
A massive amount of energy expelled from Shiroku’s hands and engulfed the entire alley. When the smoke cleared the entire end of the alley was destroyed and massive chunks were missing from the buildings. Shiroku was exhausted and his wounds from earlier started to return. He dropped to his knees and started to lose consciousness. He heard someone walking up behind him. This was it, he lost and now he’d die. Before anything else happened Shiroku blacked out.
When he awoke he was in an unfamiliar house, his wounds had been treated and he was in pajamas. He tried to sit up but his wounds prevented him from moving. The door opened and when Shiroku looked he saw an old man from his neighborhood.
“Glad to see your finally awake Shiroku. I’m sure you have plenty of questions and I think i can help answer them.”
