Aight, so OP replied to my commentary about the fact that it’s exhausting to have people treat autistic people as though they are either pathetic, dumb and childish or these really great, overly amazing beings and just... misses the entire point about wanting to be treated as a normal, everyday person to everyone else. Again, nevermind the fact that the vast majority of actions listed are what ‘neurotypical’ people experience a lot as well and although we might have autism, which is something the vast majority of people do not have (so technically, we are different to a small margin), we should not be treated differently or lesser because of it.
Also kind of implied that I hated being autistic — which I don’t (so, thank you very much for putting those words into my mouth, OP). However — I do not believe it positive thing to have either, nor does it actually make experiences as WOW SO AMAZING as was expressed in that post.
““infantile and mentally stunted adult-children” i really really hope you meant this as like. a horrible thing that a neurotypical would say but that you would never say. because describing anyone that way is really fucked up and heartless.” — of course I mean that, silly. Stop trying to make it out as though I hate autistic people when I am one myself, Jesus Christ. Of course I mean that as something an ASSHOLE would say, not a neurotypical (because that generalises the majority of the world’s population), an ASSHOLE.
“4) i honestly don’t know what you’re talking about with this bit “these ethereal beings that tumblr keeps making us out to be.” first of all idk about you but i Am an ethereal being.” — I... okay, whatever, you can call yourself that if you so choose and as a matter of fact, I almost implore that you do on the basis of if that is what you’d like since you have the right to do that but you are not this ‘ethereal being’ BECAUSE of your autism. We are people just like everyone else, this is literally my entire point. That’s what’s upsetting about this behaviour and attitude because it’s childish and it’s so tiring to have people fall into this trap of essentially making ourselves look as such when already so many jerks in this world ALREADY treat us like this.
So, no, I’m not trying to ‘shit on autistic people trying to positive’ (again, thanks for trying to twist my words into that motive and fit into your narrative) but consider it a warning that the post is pretty misguided as again, many ‘allistic’ people can already relate to it as is (and no amount of “oh, but they don’t GET IT like WE do”’s is going to change that) and that it’s childish outlooks such as yours and many others on here that is going to make people baby us more and treat us unable, which I and many other autistic people do not appreciate.
