This art is referencing a period in the late Twentieth Century where Molvia almost had a civil war. The Soviet Union was collapsing, which caused a lot of tension among the Molvian people. Some Molvians still wanted a Communist government, while some wanted to move on from it. The two sides occasionally fought, often using harpoons as weapons due to the lack of conventional weapons and the amount of fishermen in the country.

To represent Molvia joining the Soviet Union in Hetalia, I felt it would be best to have Meri move into Ivan’s house for the years Molvia was a Soviet country. Once it collapsed, Meri packed all her things and moved back into her own house. However, as she was walking, she was harpooned in the back by a complete stranger. Since Molvia was still pretty divided, it would make sense that the stranger would shoot Molvia’s representative.
