I’m so excited that my @willowpump finally came! 🤗 I can now officially be independent and pump at work and at home. I was getting so depressed being hooked up to my pump all the time, now I can do anything! Most the time you won’t be able to tell I’m pumping 😉 And the best part it bluetooths to my iphone & Apple Watch to tell me when the bag is full! #Throwback My precious little youngest baby boy fresh off his midmorning nursing. I breastfed all of my children for at least two years. He was two months old when I became a fire department recruit. I was shamed by some of my classmates and instructors for not being in shape and going to the bathroom every hour to pump. Training officers and personnel from the field would not allow a break to pump and embarrassed me in front of others for leaking through my shirt. I was told that my breast size was a distraction and that I should give up. It was even suggested by many of them via official complaints that I be fired because of it. Only two training lieutenants stood up and fought for me. When I was a rookie, the bullying didn’t stop. That experience left me so broken that it pains me to even speak about it and I tear up. However. I'm currently a Paramedic Lieutenant for that department, and the child pictured is currently a healthy, greedy, dancing machine and happy third grader that plays soccer and football, sings a native warrior chant before every game and worships Orisha. You CAN breastfeed and achieve your goals. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t.
