i find the ability to speak more than one language kind of sexy. je parle un peu français et i can write in the العربية alphabet. i also know a bit of japanese and took several years of latin. i’m kind of addicted to learning new languages.

when i tell people that part of the reason i’ve come to school down south because i’ve left my family behind, they give me this sad look like they pity me or something. yet, as cruel as it sounds, i’m happier without them. sure, i miss my brother and my uncle, and sometimes my dad, from time to time, but out here i’m independent. there’s no one telling me who to be or what to do with my life. i can just be me, and being myself isn’t something i can regret.
