That one doodle of Mona talking to Mario got me thinking a little too much about how she was a high-schooler and Wario may or may not have still been a grown man when WarioWare started.

The only possible head-canon I have is that Mona likes Wario but Wario doesn't like her back; it's an unrequited crush that she has towards some guy who loves fame and fortune more than... almost anything else.

(Although there was that one cutscene in the first game with Wario watching TV and calling Mona "cute" in one variation when she showed up in the TV but I'm desperate to think that he didn't mean that in a romantic way and instead was just complimenting her in a more platonic sense but I could be wrong to interpret it that way-)

I prefer Mona having a one sided crush too.

Honestly the best way to go about these kinda maybe iffy bits in fiction is to utilise tone, warioware as a franchise is bazaar and unserious (Like if chowder was a game lol) ya meant to laugh at the entire thing, many shows have things realistically problematic but you don’t care because it’s silly.

I like to really emphasis Mona’s “crazy” side like being chased by police, having a million jobs, and jumping on a moving helicopter to see mermaids.. (it also makes her crush more funny)
