Alistair took a deep breath as he sunk further into the most comfortable chair in his study.

years ago, he would spend his time here reading books, but now, he was working on finishing his fifth glass of wine for the evening.

a blood red, cold beverage that used to be necessary to numb the pain of loss, has over time turned into a poisonous, almost mundane routine.

he was barely able to sit up straight, disheveled and chuckling at nothing as the sweat slickened strands that usually formed his combover were now messy and far from the sophisticated look they usually gave off.

its funny how he could hardly even remember the time where the thought of getting even slightly tipsy deeply concerned him.

but was it really funny? or was it just the treacherous liquid's powers that painted over his sorrows with a bright, humerous brush?

the britishman smiled, barely even noticing the wine stains on his shirt, as he was about to pour himself another glass, only to skip the pouring and instead start drinking directly from the bottle. gulp after gulp, he could feel himself relaxing more..

..smiling more..

..feeling less..

and yet, neither Ceban nor Matilda will ever know of this secret, as he knew well how to hide every trace of this mind numbing addiction from them..

..he knew well how to hide behind a smile and pretend like everything was just fine..

sooo this was from a little art challenge in vocational school during a sketchbook workshop-

we were supposed to draw the first thing that came to our mind in only five minutes and accept whatever state it ends up in (as in- being okay with the fact an artwork is not finished!)

that challenge was very soothing tbh! liked it a lot <3
