Day 6: “didn’t we already have this conversation”
Some dialogue borrowed from Monday
"So, talk about a heavy case of deja vu."
"Well, it's fairly common."
" Yeah, but never to this degree. It's a long story but I had the distinct sensation that I had lived that moment before."
The moment he was referring to was being held up in a bank with a bomb-strapped-to-his-chest lunatic.
"I wonder what it means."
"Mulder, I don't see why it has to mean anything."
"Well, you know, some Freudians believe the deja vu phenomenon to be repressed memories escaping the unconscious. That it represents a desire to have a second chance to set things right."
"Set what kind of things right?"
"Wait...didn't we already have this conversation?"
"So you're experiencing it, too? It's not just me?"
"I don't know what I'm experiencing..."
Suddenly she was hit with a flashback of Mulder in a bank, her cradling his head in her lap...and an obscene amount of blood seeping from his body. Her throat constricts suddenly reliving how her hand holding pressure on the open wound on his chest felt his heart take its last beat. Her vision blurs with unshed tears and she could feel the blood-curdling scream manifest itself deep within her throat, desperately wanting to escape.
Mulder sees her physically reacting to whatever she was reliving in her mind.
She snaps out of her worst nightmare and, with clear eyes, takes him standing before her in all his glory.
She takes a step towards him until she can feel his body heat radiating off of him. She raises a hand to tentatively place upon his chest, over his heart. Her other hand joins on his chest, hands roaming, taking assessment that he is here--standing whole and unharmed and alive before her.
Her small hands glide up from his chest to cup his stubbled cheeks. Tears gather in her eyes as she tugs his mouth down to hers. It's chaste, but packs a punch nonetheless.
"What was that for?" Mulder asks after they've separated.
"What was it you said before? Something about having a second chance to set things right?"
He nods in acknowledgement, allowing her to pull him down to her waiting lips once more.
