MONSTER HUNTER WORLD.
okay, so to preface: i play video games in binges. i’ll pick up a game, play it for days, weeks, months, y e a r s. for example? first it was the jak & daxter saga paired with the spyro games; then it was nintendogs; Sims 3 / 4; World of Warcraft; Pokemon; and now? Monster Hunter. I’m not counting undertale, mainly because i’ve never played it. so basically, when i pick up a game, i love it. i adore it, i play it through and through until i’m sick of it because it’s so good. but also, i’m not that experienced of a gamer, nor have a big gaming palette.
i’ve been… engrossed in this series since christmas of 2015, when i got Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for my 3ds and… the graphics blew me the fuck away. for a 3ds game?? to look like a fucking ps4 triple a title? um, hell to the yes. plus??? it was??? a game about wrecking ass? hello.
you gotta understand, most games i played were pc & 3ds, i hadn’t touched a playstation console in nearly a decade. so what other game to tide me over than monster hunter world? trust me, it’s phenomenal. i’ve already coerced convinced a lot of other friends to pick it up - including other roleplayers here on this platform!
from the absolutely stunning graphics to the slick & heart-pounding gameplay, this is the end all and be all of my favorite game series of all time. you really should pick it up, it’s got such a diverse gameplay, the game is about making your own style, finding yourself in your own technique and preferences. there’s weapons like the bow, the hammer, the insect glaive, the long sword, and my favorite & main, the dual blades. ( 14 total! )
plus?? you get a little cat companion who fights alongside you??? you get to customize them as well - their species is called a palico, and they’re tenacious little fuzzballs who are there the whole way for you. um, not to forget the fucking gorgeous monsters. like. look. at. these. guys. i’ll post some under the cut because holy shit.
tldr; i absolutely love this game with a fucking passion & absolutely recommend it to anyone willing or not to listen, so long as you’ve got ears. it’s beautiful, it’s fun, it’s fantastic, you REALLY need to try this game. the only downside is to play multiplayer you need playstation plus, which i only bought for this game which, eh, kinda sucky, but - it’s absolutely worth it, especially for playing with friends. but just? in general? 10/10 stars.
