TECHNICS PETITIONED TO BRING BACK ICONIC TURNTABLE
Many vinyl fanatics joined in arms to petition Ikea when they recently discontinued on of their shelving units. Apparently, Ikea had another unit up their sleeves, and reassured vinyl collectors that they would still be able to store their albums on Ikea shelves when the new model is made available.
However, earlier in the year (back in January), a petition was started by Moni Daniel , through Change.org, in hopes to get enough signatures to convince Technics to start producing the SL-1200 turntable again.
Moni states that vinyl and turntablism both have their place in the music world, and the recent surge in vinyl sales demand decent equipment for playing the albums.
In the last week alone, the petition has gathered over 10,000 more followers, with Panasonic even joining in on the push! obviously the word is spreading and the goal is in sight. Whether or not Technics cares and what they will do when the petition is received is anyone's guess-but the addition of Panasonic is quite impressive.
