Anyway new lore drop - I've been reading Kiyo in Kyoto and it made me wanna make Geisha's on Magica so we have the Zeisha!! We're so good at naming things!!!
There's the Zeisha! They are the top tier of their craft, traditionally only Drakelyne and only recently allowed to be any race from Magica or beyond, they're dancers that dance in belly dancer silks with long flowing hair and tails (tails not necessary now). They're entertainers by trade, and since they're psionic and telepaths, they know what kind of gifts to give to their patrons. It's traditional to give a gift and get a gift, do drinking games, even have sex if you both want that (consent is very important and they are strong enough to fight you off). They decorate their fur (or skin now) in a colored powder that makes their fur color stand out more, usually on hips, chest, face and on the base of their tails. These are usually people 30+ (remember, the average Magican lives to around 300 years, and Drakelyne are long-lived like elves, but age far quicker.) The average person begins their Zeisha journey at around 16 traditionally, but can be taken in at any age.
There's the Kaido! Apprentices to the Zeisha, they dance in more modest attire then their elder counterparts. It's not traditional to get gifts from the Kaido, but to give gifts to aid their journey into Zeisha-hood. They have mid-length hair at this point, and it's normal for them to have their hair up in pony tails instead of down and flowing. They do not use powder on their bodies, and they do not have sex with patrons. These are usually people 20-30 in age, but the Kaido period can last much shorter or longer depending on the person's skill.
There's the Yokomo! The assistance to the Kaido and the bottom tier of the Zeisha order. These are 16-20 year olds traditionally, guys, gals and nonbinary pals who have dedicated their lives early on to the art of Zeisha entertaining. They usually come in with already long hair, seeing the Zeisha with their waist-length hair or longer, but they're told to cut it themselves with a sword to start at the bottom (which is trimmed up nice afterwards dw). They dress traditionally like this, and never show their faces to patrons. Their jobs are basically just bitch work; sewing, cleaning, washing, carrying shit around to each place, making sure the Zesiha and Kaido are taken care of.
Shoutout to: The Matriarchs or Mothers; women specifically who have been a Zaisha for over 500 years (usually always Drakelyne or Yonai). Most stop their journey around 100-300 years, depending on how bored or burnt out they get with the job. But those who last the longest are rewarded with a new job; den mother. They're in charge of taking care of, training, and housing the Zeisha (tho they can move on to their own places with out of pocket expenses) Kaido and Yokomo. They are militaristically strict, but motherly at the same time.
Shoutout to: The Grandmother! A Yonai woman who's been around the longest in the Drakelyne community. Yonai are typically who play the instruments and create the ambiance for the Zeisha parties, playing specifically crafted instruments for this job. She personally trains each and every Yonai that wants to play for the Zeisha and Kaido.
