what we DON'T know is how long the Gems had been on Earth, how long it took from their arrival to Rose's 'birth', how long it took between Rose's 'birth' and her rebelling

(2) that Pearl's enduring love/loyalty for Rose and her knightly side surrounding it is in fact a very compelling and important aspect of the character. So I just wanted to appreciate your RP bc you seem to have a good grasp on the concept that while Pearl development is not a bad thing per se, saying that she needs to 'get over it' is in a way missing something that's important/special about the character. IDK you seem to handle that regardfully and I wanted to say I apreciatte it.

I mean, I dunno if I"d say Pearl has fully moved on, either. Like Steven said, they'll always miss Rose and I dunno if it's fair to say that Pearl can't be upset over it outside of flashbacks. That's just my opinion, though.
The better word might be “accepting” it. Or something akin to that. You are right in that she’ll always love Rose, and since it’s only been fourteen years, the wounds are still there. But now she has Steven, the Crystal Gems, even Greg. So she hasn’t moved on, you’re right, but she’s much more okay now than she was when Rose had just recently passed.
I think it can be okay if it’s done outside of flashbacks, but it was always a bother to see her project her problems about this onto Steven, as it very easily could have created a barrier between them. I understand why, and this new episode really showed that, but that doesn’t mean I’m okay with it. Just as long as she no longer projects her issues onto Rose’s son, then that alone is progress.
I don't get why people complain about angst with Pearl. Steven universe mainly revolves around steven AND the relationship between pearl, greg & Rose.What happened to rose was strange, traumatic and heartbreaking for pearl so of course things are going to get angsty whenever you deal with pearl feelings towards the subjec. Pearls grief about rose is an integral part of her character and i dont think I'd enjoy her character otherwise.
Exactly! Although I wouldn’t say it’s also mostly about that relationship, but ALL relationships (that’s likely what you meant though, but I thought I’d mention it). How each one is different and how different events and situations drive the people in them. Grief, sadness, anger, hatred, so forth. They are very real emotions to feel over losing someone you love. The reactions do baffle me.
The way I see it, we recently got a hilarious and great episode where Pearl actually put herself out there and conversed with a female human due to sudden infatuation--something she likely hadn’t experienced in years. That episode gave her a chance to show that she has fully moved on from Rose, and it did. It’s likely this episode irritated a small few because they thought that that was the last we’d see of a Rose-pining Pearl, who has grown so much over time. Which makes sense to not want to see... unless it’s a flashback. Because oh my god, what sense would it make to have Pearl be totally fine over this? None, I assure you, heh. This episode felt very real with how they all took it, and I wouldn’t want to change that.
