Sanji wasn’t sure what he had expected when Luffy burst into the kitchen one afternoon with Law in tow. He had expected something—after all, Luffy being late for lunch was never without reason—but that ‘something’ sure as hell wasn’t what actually came out of his captain’s mouth.
“We’re having a baby!”
Dead silence settled over the kitchen as everyone present stared at Luffy with an open mouth.
“I’m sorry, who is having what?” Usopp finally asked, his voice a pitch higher than usual.
“Me and Torao. We’re having a baby,” Luffy replied matter-of-factly as he settled into a chair, grabbing for the whole chicken in the middle of the table.
Sanji automatically swatted him, “Hands off, that’s for Nami-san, Robin-chan, and Ikkaku-chan. Are you actually for real?”
“You’re mean,” Luffy whined, chewing on a slab of sea king meat unhappily, his eyes still fixated on the chicken. “But yeah? Why wouldn’t we be?”
“Because the Captain—You—You know…” Penguin tried, waving his hands around vaguely and obviously looking for words.
“My head already hurts…” Torao muttered, dropping into his designated chair next to Luffy, throwing his arm around the back on Luffy’s own chair.
“Well, considering Torao isn’t trying to murder Luffy right now, I guess it’s not just in Luffy’s head,” Zoro laughed, earning himself a glare from both Luffy and Torao—one of those way more threatening than the other—but he didn’t pay them any mind. Instead he raised his mug in a toast. “Congrats.”
That seemed to break the spell that had both of the crews in a stupor. Suddenly, everyone was cheering and congratulating their captains on the happy news, asking a million questions and already making plans for a celebration.
There was Franky crying his eyes out, Bepo hanging onto Law and rubbing his face against him, Penguin and Shachi fighting over who was going to be the godfather—as if the Straw Hats would let them hog that role all to themselves—Chopper so happy he didn’t know what to do with himself, and of course, Robin enveloping Luffy in a warm hug with a happy smile on her face.
Sanji wanted to feel jealous. He would be, very much so in fact, under any other circumstances.
However, right now…
Right now he had more pressing issues on his mind.
Exchanging a look with Nami and Usopp, all three of them nodded, a mutual understanding between them.
Sanji needed a cigarette.
—————
It was that very same night that Sanji found himself in the kitchen once more. This time, however, the atmosphere was much calmer… and also much more serious. The silence that hung over the room was almost oppressing, the unspoken tension felt by everyone present.
Sanji carefully placed a cocktail glass in front of Nami, who only muttered her thanks in a voice so quiet it was barely more than a whisper.
Usopp seemed to not even have it in himself to protest the unfair treatment or demand his own from where he was lying slumped over the table, his eyes staring off into space and fixed on an empty spot on the wall. Sanji could understand the sentiment.
With a sigh, Sanji pulled out a chair and sat down, grabbing a cigarette and lighting it, taking a long drag. He wondered… how many chances to enjoy a smoke in peace did he have left?
It was only minutes later that Usopp finally broke the silence in a completely lifeless voice, not even bothering to unglue his face from the table. “What are we gonna do?”
“Pray,” Sanji replied, watching the smoke rise to the ceiling. Really, what else was there for them?
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for them okay?” Usopp continued, gesturing with his hand as if to stress his words while still keeping his head on the table. “But can you imagine? A person, a human person who is half Luffy and half Torao? That’s not going to be a human person, it’s going to be the thing that will finally sink the Sunny.”
“Tell me about it…” Sanji mumbled. “If that baby eats as much as Luffy does? Do you have any idea what it’s like feeding one Luffy?”
“Not to mention the cost of feeding one Luffy.” Nami nodded in agreement as she rubbed the bridge of her nose; no doubt already worrying about their already strained finances.
Usopp groaned. “Even just picturing their personality is giving me a headache. We are so fucked guys.”
I have so many questions about your lawlu childeren, I love them 😭❤️
What does Ola usually write? 👀 (somehow I can see her writing the weirdest stuff no matter the genre xD)
And is Taiga's garden more flowery or more vegetable/herb/Usopp type garden?
And the golden question, how did the crews react when they first found out there's going to be a baby around and worse, that it's going to a mini Lawlu mix? There are so many ways I can imagine that going and I need to know how it actually went xD
AAAHHH thank you so much, I'm really glad! 🥺💜 I love talking about them, these questions are making me vibrate:
1 - What does Ola usually write?
She has a preference for fantasy and sci-fi, and you're absolutely correct, it's always weird. The kind of weird where you're not sure if it's pure surrealism or if you just don't get it because you're dumb.
Law seems to get it though, he says her writing is "deeply allegorical and profound, a reflection of human nature through a distorting mirror." Whatever that's supposed to mean. He's proud.
2 - What kind of garden does Taiga keep?
Flowery garden! He grows some herbs and fruit trees too, but it's mostly flowers, vines, cacti, etc. He's very dedicated to his plants, it's a huge tragedy whenever something bad happens to one of them (which is not very often, because he's extremely careful).
He never kills the bugs though. If they are damaging the plants, he takes them somewhere else and feeds them (sometimes he ends up keeping them too).
3 - How did the crews react to lawlu having a baby?
There were mixed reactions for sure. The Heart pirates were shocked at first, and definitely a little worried, but overall just very happy for Law. All of them wanted to be "the cool uncle/auntie" and couldn't wait to spoil the baby (everyone was jealous of Bepo once Ola was born, because he was very obviously the favorite).
The Strawhats, on the other hand... they know Luffy enough to know there are things to be very worried about. Well, at least some of them were worried. Robin and Zoro were just like "omg congrats :)", Franky got "SUUUUUPER" emotional, but I can see Nami, Sanji and Usopp having some kind of "emergency meeting" about the news:
Usopp: Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them—a litte weirded out, yes, but happy—but, guys... A human being that's half Luffy and half Trafalgar Law? I can't be the only one who thinks this is a dangerous idea. That baby is going to be terrifying.
Sanji: Oh my god, what if the baby eats as much as Luffy?! What's going to happen to me?!
Nami: Guys, calm down, this is important! Our mission is to be positive role-models for the baby once it's born. That way, we can maybe mitigate the effects of the Trafal-Luffy genes. The child can still be normal if we try hard enough.
But once Ola is born, their only concern is "protect Pirate Princess!" The child did not, in fact, turn out normal at all, but they all still love her (and Taiga!) to death.

By the time Chopper finally managed to force everyone out of the room to get the new parents and Ola some peace and quiet, Law had to say he was goddamn exhausted.
And it wasn’t because they had survived the birth of a whole new human just hours before.
“Torao, are you okay?” Luffy asked, poking Law’s side when he didn’t immediately react.
“I feel a headache coming,” Law groaned finally. “And stop poking me.”
Luffy laughed quietly. “Sorry. But you know…” he trailed off, making Law look at him questioningly—and he startled at the look Luffy was giving him. There was a soft smile on his face and his eyes carried so much warmth and love that Law wasn’t sure what to do with it, what to do with himself.
Thankfully, Luffy didn’t give him time to dwell on it when his face split into the widest, brightest grin and he continued, “You look really happy.”
Law blinked, staring at Luffy for a moment but then he clicked his tongue and turned away. Inadvertently, his eyes fell on the crib next to the bed; on the tiny human who was sleeping there soundly, completely unaware and uncaring of the loud party that was already going on on the Sunny’s deck.
“Shut up, Straw Hat-ya,” he said finally, but he couldn’t fight the smile that pulled on his lips.
If Luffy noticed, he didn’t say anything. He only snickered, shuffling closer to Law; so much closer that he was basically sitting on Law’s lap as he snuggled into his side, with Law’s hand automatically going around his shoulders to pull him closer.
They were quiet for a moment, both simply watching Ola as she squirmed a little bit before settling into her blanket once more, not waking up.
“She’s so cute, Torao,” Luffy said then.
Law hummed in agreement. “She really is. For now. We’ll see what we think at 3 in the morning a week from now.”
“Torao, why would you say that?! And you always tell me not to ruin the moment,” Luffy huffed, trying to sound scolding but betrayed by the way his voice shook with amusement.
“I’m just saying.” Law shrugged, a smile of his own on his face as he pressed a kiss to Luffy’s temple.
“Would you want another one?” Luffy asked quietly, his voice full of innocent wonder and Law groaned.
“Seriously? Straw Hat-ya, she was literally just born,” he replied.
At that, Luffy giggled, the sound light and happy and so very sweet. Yeah, Law was still in love with this idiot…
Which didn’t mean he wanted to think about having another child right now.
“Okay, okay! I get it.” Luffy laughed, pulling himself away from Law. “I’m hungry, I’m getting something to eat.”
Law hummed noncommittally, glancing at Luffy while he stretched his achy body. And when Luffy leaned in, Law saw no reason not to oblige him. Smiling into the kiss, Law had to wonder how the hell did they even get to this point. It seemed like a month ago that they met again on Punk Hazard and now they were here, kissing in bed while their newborn daughter slept in her crib.
It was honestly kind of insane.
“I’ll be right back,” Luffy announced once they separated, pressing one last quick peck on Law’s lips.
And then he was gone, lured away by his growling stomach and Law sighed, closing his eyes momentarily and taking a deep breath; the sudden quiet was strange, but welcome—how long would it last? He was sure Ola was going to wake up soon…
Suddenly, the door burst open again.
Law stared with wide eyes at Luffy, who was standing in the door with stars in his eyes and drool on his lips while he panted lightly. “Torao!! Sanji’s making barbeque!! What do you want?!”
Law huffed; of course it was about meat.
“Doesn’t really matter,” he replied with amusement as his lips curled into a smirk. “You’re going to eat it all anyway.”
“Will not!” Luffy cried in protest before slapping a hand over his mouth, his eyes turning to Ola to check if he didn’t wake her up. Law was almost proud of him for that.
“Sure.” Law laughed and shook his head. “Just bring me whatever, I’m starving. Also coffee.”
“Okay~” Luffy drew out. “What should I get Ola though?”
Law blinked. He stared at Luffy blankly for a moment—he hoped Luffy would somehow understand exactly what Law was thinking in that moment. But he supposed that was too much to hope for when his opponent was Luffy.
Luffy, who was only looking at him with an innocent, completely honest look on his face.
Taking a deep breath, Law willed his voice to stay as calm as he could make it when he finally opened his mouth. “Don’t you dare feed her any meat. We’ve been over this.”
Luffy tilted his head to the side with a pout. “But she can’t get strong without meat…”
“She’s not even a day old,” Law dead-panned. “Try it and I’ll cut your dick off.”
“Fine~” His pout only grew larger and he didn’t look convinced in the least but Law didn’t have the willpower to care anymore. He was going to watch him though.
wait, does Sora fight women? since she got the sanji gene, is she also adapting Sanji's philosophy or does she not care who the person is once they cross the line?
also i know you said Law wants frobin son as far away from Taiga as possible but what is the general stance on Sora? 👀
Oh these are such juicy questions ✨👀 I'll tackle them separately:
Does Sora fight women?
She does. She is a lot more reluctant to start a fight with another woman (and usually it's men who actually piss her off), but if things get serious, she can activate "battle mode" and become imperturbable.
After all, she'd hate it if her rivals held back or refused to fight her just because she's a woman. Even if Sora gets a little silly around pretty girls, when it comes to battles and honor, she always follows Zoro's advice: "if you respect your opponent, you will give your 100% in every fight."
How does Law feel about Sora?
Overall, he thinks the girl is pretty much harmless, endearing even. If she can barely hold a conversation with his daughter without stuttering every 3 words, it doesn't look like she's going to be much of a threat. "Ola can handle a loser," he thinks.
Besides, he sees how Sora looks at his little gremlin. It's different from how she looks at any other girl. But he'll let them figure it out by themselves.
does Ola know Sora is crushing so hard on her or is she so used to it since childhood that she's like "this is normal"? considering who Ola's parents are, I can see it going either way 😂
This is a very good question, thank you for asking! 👁
It's complicated. Ola isn't stupid, she knows Sora likes her, it's obvious: the ridiculous stutter, the deep blush, the high pitched voice when she gets embarrassed, the awkward compliments...
But the catch is: isn't Sora just like that with all cute girls? I mean, Ola enjoys the attention, but she's aware that she isn't special... right?
Ola is certain that she could have Sora at the snap of a finger, it would be so easy. But she doesn't want to be "just another girl she likes," she wants to be the girl she likes.
If only she knew...
If only she noticed how Sora's eyes will always look for her in a room full of beautiful women.
