Monkeying Around
;Phia and I spent about 4.5 hours at Monkey Joe's today.
At one point I sat down with ;Phia to rest for a moment. I overheard a parent telling her daughter that they were tired and had been there for two hours already. I gave them a knowing nod and said, "Yeah, we've been her for three already." I was trying to empathize with them but their daughter busted that up by saying "Yeah, but he's been playing the whole time."
It was really hard not to laugh. But the best part was that she had obviously seen me around.
One of the highlights of this trip was that I decided to get in the pirate ship and start talking to ;Phia like a pirate. She confirmed that I was a friendly pirate and then dove into the fantasy. We had a blast. I was concerned that I might scare some kids even though I was being quite the jolly pirate and didn't have on any costume. I mean my beard is even trimmed up. And rightly so, most of the kids would just look at me strangely as they ran by and continued to play. Only one kid poked his head in and stared at me in silence for a while before running off. One out of a hundred is not so bad right? I'm thinking I should dress the part next time.
Three-year-olds don’t know fear…but moms do.
The closest Monkey Joe's is 16 miles away from me.
Naw.
