The Monkey Minions are Mojo Jojo’s small, personal army originally gathered to help him with his goals for conquest. When the war with Fuse began and the world’s heroes and villains united, he opted to have them join the main force. Since then, they’ve been pivotal support to the war effort.
Initially, the Monkey Minions didn’t get along at all well with the rest of the Fusion Fighters. A lot of them either bought into their leader’s feelings of superiority or thought that humans and other sentient species viewed them as inferior. Meanwhile, most of the other Fusion Fighters didn’t trust them because they work for Mojo. This distrust, however, eventually ebbed the more they fought alongside each other–to the point where a lot of them can truly be called brothers in arms.
To be truthful though, their primary loyalty still belongs to Mojo. A lot of them were enhanced/gained sentience due to small amounts–Mojo doesn’t want a repeat of the PPG movie–of a diluted version of Chemical X injected into their bodies, so they’re grateful to him. For some, this has even been to the point where they’ve allowed Mojo to continue with his experiments on them, where he’s trying to combine fusion matter with Chemical X to create a superpowered version of his minions.
These experiments are conducted with a lot of reluctance after several Monkey Minions were turned into Spawn Simians from eating fusion bananas. Mojo’s too stubborn not to press forward, but he is genuinely concerned and wishes to cure the Spawn Simians if possible. This is why several are contained and monitored beneath his base.
The monkeys who already had sentience prior to joining Mojo’s forces were mostly either from the Habitat Homes or Prickly Pines areas, such as Spencer Spidermonkey.
While the Monkey Minions can be found everywhere, they typically either form units as foot-soldiers or as Monkey Skyway Agents. These agents has been the biggest help to the war effort, as an unorthodox means of transporting both goods and soldiers that can easily slip around Fuse’s army. The only downside is that it can typically only be done for shorter distances and with limited cargo. Also, while most of the monkeys are trained to use their jetpacks, not all of them are strong enough to carry people.
If you’re mid-flight with a Skyway Agent and make any reference to that part of the Wizard of Oz where the Wicked Witch sends out her flying monkeys, you’re probably gonna get smacked.
FusionFall Bases and Outposts Headcanons: Mojo’s Volcano
Although it’s technically one of the Fusion Fighter bases, it’s pretty much exclusively run by Mojo Jojo and his monkey minions. This is because, while he did join the Fusion Fighters, Mojo Jojo himself is adamantly against letting people inside, lest they expose his own technology and/or plans for world conquest after the war with Fuse is over. All Fusion Fighters can still be supported with resources or equipment, but anyone else who plans on sticking around for any kind of work is probably going to have to bunker down somewhere else. More often than not, however, this suits people just fine.
The base’s primary objectives are to keep watch on Planet Fusion and--as a much newer concern--find a cure for the Spawn Simians. The Monkey Minions as a whole also commonly report to Mojo Jojo first, wherever they may be stationed, so everything involving their chain of command begins there.
Everyone’s worried about the Spawn Simians, both for what it means for life on earth as a whole against fusion matter and how they’re a serious threat to deal with. Similarly to the Scribble Spawns, however, no one’s found a cure yet and it seems that fusion matter has gripped them entirely to the point where they’ve effectively been transformed into fusion monsters. They’re kept contained below the volcano both for public safety and for experimentation.
Mojo seems to be a lot less grumpy, now that civilians don’t hang around his base as much and he’s got an army that’ll take him seriously. He’s still a blowhard, but it makes him more tolerable to deal with for anyone who has to go there for an assignment.
Meanwhile, the monkey minions are typically pretty chill with the other Fusion Fighters. They don’t mind hanging out or working together, and have gotten pretty used to fighting alongside humans. Still, they might mimic their boss’s “superior” attitude whenever he’s within earshot, just to avoid a reprimanding for “getting too close” to people they’re only supposed to be in a temporary alliance with.
The Monkey Minions will almost always be favored because of this. Still, there’s some buildings for others to rest up in that aren’t too far away and a few cafes that are still open people regularly enjoy.
