Here's some angst for the Monkey Ryuji Au. Wukong cared about Ryuji even knowing about his wish to be around humans. So Wukong taught Ryuji the transformation spell if the blonde monkey promised to send a letter every week on how he was doing.
Then one day, he stopped getting letters. Weeks turned into months, then a year pass and the Monkey King grieves about the unknown fate of his brave little pseudo-son.
Wukong cares about all the monkey on Mount Huaguo, but he probably has a special place for all the ones who manage to turn into demons.
So losing one of his, it's probably going to affect the whole island and not just its King.
Bigger plot twist to Ryuji being a Monkey Demon all along. He doesn't remember being one as he got amnesia and since he built up a human identity for so long before the amnesia related incident, he thinks he's an actual human which makes his body essentially forget about his monkey form.
The incident in the Metaverse following Captain Kidd's awakening has Ryuji's body recognize it's true form with slight alterations. The memories start to come back when interacting with Wukong, Macaque and MK.
It's a Monkeyception. 🐒

Wukong finding out his fellow missing monkey demon is Ryuji. This man will cry waterfalls in relief although the blonde would be stuck on Flower Fruit Mountain for a bit so all the others know he's alive and well(not that Wukong grounded him for scaring the high heavens out of the entire island with his disappearance). Akira/Ren would go with him since he's super curious about Ryuji's old home but also to be a good boyfriend and support him.
If Wukong found out during a harsh battle however... You can expect this Monkey King to unleash absolute hell on his opponent. He lost Ryuji once, he wouldn't allow it to happen again.
The idea of Wukong finding out Ryuji was one of his monkeys during a fight is top tier for me!
Wukong goes all protective papa mode and the Phantom Thieves are lowjey a bit scared by him.
But after the whole reunion, Ryuji gets dragged to FFM along with Akira.
The monkeys are a bit undecided about Akira, but once they find out that he's their brother's boyfriend they all dogpile on him
More Idea's for the LMK phantom thieves, persona is a term the thieves came up with themselves. In reality they all have latent magical abilities and their persona are the physical manifestation of their power that can act semi independently from their person. None of the phantoms thieves realised its not coincidences that their personas manifested as their favorite people from history and myths. The so called shadows they fight are actually lesser demons just working security jobs. They don't get clarifications on the demon/ magic stuff until they meet the LMK gang. Ryuji doesn't have a uber demon form his persona makes up for that instead same goes for Morgans. Joker magic is just very flexible which is why his persona can appear differently sometimes.
Oh! I like this idea a lot!
And it does ties well with the LMK universe since we see a dragon appear behind Mei when she fights!
Now a good question, is Ryuji one of the monkey demons old enough to remeber macaque or one of the younger ones born after the incident. Depending on 'when' could give him a 'fight me' reason for macaque with the rest of the phantoms thieves tagging in to help.
I'd say he was born way after the whole deal with Macaque.
But it doesn't mean that he doesn't find out about that from the other monkeys
When do you think all this plot stuff with ryuji remembering his monkey demon happen like plot wise? Would it be post or during canon for the game or the show?
Well, I haven't finished the game yet and I didn't even begun to watch the anime.
But I would guess it all happens after?
