I liked what you had to about the WOC ask being clear about your boundaries is the most important I’m not a poc but I am a woman, a feminist, and a gender and women’s studies major so when I first saw bts’ war of hormone (& some other earlier songs) I was like ummm no but I after not only their company & the members themselves explicitly acknowledged the misogynist lyrics, apologized for them, & have said that they’re going to do better after learning better I let it go (1/2)
(2/2) they made mistakes but they apologized for it & they haven’t made the same mistake since they now consult gws profs (I read that somewhere even if it’s not true they’re still more careful about what they write), they wrote a feminist song for crying out loud, & they delivered the speak yourself speech & low key identified themselves as feminists based on what they advocated for — I think the bottom line is if they acknowledged their mistake, apologize & do better let it go
now see, i am also a woman and a feminist, so i agree with you....however, i see people come for WOH all the time, and this is honestly one of the cases where i can let it go 🤷🏽♀️ and it may be a matter of me understanding bts’s intention behind it (or knowing they truly didn’t mean it in the way it came off) and so it’s easier for me to let it go, but i admittedly enjoy music that can be pretty derogatory towards women simply because i like the way it sounds. and in my personal opinion, that’s okay! again back to each person taking things in context and picking your battles 🤷🏽♀️ WOH doesn’t bother me at all, issa bop 💃🏾 seokjin slamming ol’ girl against those lockers in the boy in luv video? yoongi forcing her head side to side? that makes me cringe, to this day
