🎫 Exopulse
He was part of a small unit (12 individuals) of Decepticon technicians who had to repair and do maintenance on battleships. They were rather secluded from the other Decepticons and their superiors wouldn't let them mingle with others which is why they behave a bit different and also why the repair bay was off limits to outsiders - not that anyone would care to go there unless they needed to. There wasn't a lot to do that did not include repairs and they did not have a chance to pursue hobbies or anything of the sort.
They were allowed to listen to music and Megatron's old speeches only on special occasions when a nice overseer let them. The techies were like a close-knit family, usually well-behaved in the presence of a superior, but they knew how to cause trouble as well. Their banter was probably the only thing that kept them sane in this pit of boredom and monotony.
The main difference between mechanics and technicians is: If something's broken, mechanics know how to fix it, but technicians can replace the entire part and look for damage or errors afterwards. In the early to middle stages of the war it was more time-efficient to just replace a faulty part and fix it later, which is why the maintenance ship was always following those at the front. The techies didn't have to fight, until the entire fleet (led by captain Skyquake, btw) was split up and the vessel they had been tailing was annihilated by an upgraded cargo ship of the Autobots.
Both forces descended upon the nearest planet and fought each other, until there were no survivors left. The last two foes to shoot each other through the spark were Exopulse and Monochromator. That's how they first met.
A few hours later, Rossum, his pupil Sparkattack and the Orbiter's head of security, Venator, found their greyed out frames and carried all of them back to the space station where they would serve as a metal reserve. Millennia later, when Rossum had been injured on accident and slipped into a coma, Sparky noticed that mechs were dying in their recharge while someone bit their helms off and they couldn't find the culprit at first. Their numbers started dwindling and he decided to meddle in resurrection, successfully reviving the only two remaining frames in their collection, Mono and Exo.
