The Bible, with all its rules, is simply a book written by a person or people. It ought to carry a disclaimer, prominently displayed: 'The word of God, distorted and misrepresented by man.'
The Monogram Murders, by Sophie Hannah
What score, out of 10, would you give 'The Monogram Murders' by Sophie Hannah?
The Monogram Murders by Sophie Hannah
I love Agatha Christie and have always enjoyed Poirot and his, to me, funny mannerisms. In reading this book it brought me back to the old stories and I enjoyed it immensely. It wasn't quite as subtle as Agatha was and I figured out quite a few things before the end but I still liked the way the story played out. It had the depth and complexities of the old stories without all the modern trappings that would have tainted it. There was no overt sex and gore, which was a nice change from the way stories are now often portrayed. It leaves more to the imagination, which in my case, is more effective, as the human imagination can often come up with something infinitely more gruesome and disturbing. It isn't Agatha Christie but she did come very close and I was happy with the result.
