Normally I try to keep my work and personal lives separate but this is an image I’m pretty proud of, and not necessarily because I find it powerful. What moves me most is the intensity of the students. For so long people have been quick to write off young people. I’ve been blessed to work with many throughout my career. I find today’s youth to be thoughtful, passionate, intelligent, articulate, and inspiring. The students in this photo are from Monomoy High and are participating in the walkout. It was supposed to happen on March 14, but weather closed the school. Undaunted, the students held the walkout on Friday, standing in solidarity in the cold in order to send the message that gun violence must end. I am proud of their strength, their determination, and their willingness to stand up for what they believe in. These are the faces of the future, and it is because of them that I have hope. #monomoysharks #standingstrong #neveragain #msdstrong #loveoneanother #peace
