While Heat liked plenty of things, his love list was fairly short. He loved animals of all sorts, except for the poisonous ones, which sat firmly on his “like” list, and his job (although not necessarily the customers), and he loved that his job required him to spend lots of time with animals in various ways.
Cats? Grooming and general playtime. Rabbits? Mild socialization. Dogs? Playing, grooming, and well. Walking. Which he was currently doing with a Dalmatian puppy by the name of Coop.
‘Puppies,’ the brunet thought fondly, adjusting his grip on the leash connected to Coop’s harness as the baby boy tugged back and forth, looking for the next best thing at the park.
‘Puppies!’ He thought happily, spotting someone else with their dog, his grin growing in brightness. It was always good to see other people taking care of their pets.
‘Oh, no,’ came next, because Coop had seen them too, and was a very social puppy, he wanted to go meet the other dog. Usually, Heat would have no difficulty holding the pup back, but because of his loose grip on the leash, it only took one good tug before the Dalmatian was g o n e.
“Coop, no!” Scrambling after, the pet-sitter patted his pockets furiously, attempting to locate the treats he always took with him on walks and trips.
