Week 02 // Moo Carve
This week I decided to visit another old friend and bought a small linoleum block called Moo Carve. Little less than five dollars for a 4″ x 4″ x 1/2″ semi-soft block. To get the most bang for my buck, I cut it into 1″ squares and carved into both sides, creating 8 possible blocks. My first experiment was a continuous pattern study in which I cut straight simple lines into the block. While I liked this pattern, I wanted something with more personality. So taking a leaf from my own book in senior studio, I created a set of parts with the remaining 6 blocks. To keep these continuous, I marked the edges 1/2″ in on each side so they might line up when I printed them. The result is something I’ very happy with because it’s fun and versatile.
