Monster design sketches, for Monster Gate 3.
Arcadia magazine No. 34 (Mar. 1, '03), pg. 174
It is my humble opinion that non-japanese GBA boxes were a crap design. The massive branding on the left distracts from the art and it is harder to arrange text in them. Japanese box-art wasn't always great, but in general the box design allowed for way more pleasing compositions. So here's a bunch that I like:
Probably not a coincidence these are mostly fantasy and rpg games, since they have to sell you on the mood and style as much as possible with a single image. Also, you know what's fun? Collecting these covers I found one of the rare Japan-made art for a western game:
I just think that's neat.
Monster Gate
"Tribute 1 monster; excavate cards from the top of your Deck until you excavate a monster that can be Normal Summoned/Set. Special Summon it, also send the other excavated cards to the GY."
Monster Gate, Game Boy Advance.
Underrated Card of the week Monster Gate
So finally I do another one of these I just have felt very inspired by any card that wasn't very used but here I go again.
Monster Gate
This card is limited to one but is rarely ever seen in play.
Now I think this card is 100% broken in the OCG meta game and pretty broken in our meta game. This card takes one of your monsters sends it to the grave then lets you mill till you hit a summonable monster and then you get to special summon it. Now while you lose a card you invested in summoning this can end up being a major plus on your part with luck and in with some cards.
Here is a list of cards that play really well with this card that are rather common to see.
Tengu with this card is amazing you get a new tengu and a new monster odds are you get your boss or another 4 star to make into an XyZ or sync with.
The new ocg arc type holy marks make AMAZING use of this card. When they are tributed they get to special summon monsters from there deck under certain conditions this allows you to monster gate to get the effect off then end up with two cards on the field and most likely the XYZ you wanted to bring out.
Any Card that gets it's effect off being sent from the field to the grave benfits from this card and really can make good use out of it and odds are your running at lest 1 card that gets a plus from being in the graveyard or at lest doesn't mind it there.
Anyway I think people should consider this more in there decks and I can't wait to see how my followers use it if they do.
