Tommy James' pop psychedelia got me thinking about the deployment of, hm, psychedelia in avariety of genres. Yes, this concept doesn't belong to the 60's rock only, you can find that in many styles, including electronic music. Shpongle, for instance, established their own brand of the latter by mixing their dance stylings with some psychedelic elements. Of course, they also added some other pieces, transforming their sound into an acid trip on a neon-lit highway during the night. You sort of have a feeling you're in a car, where you listen to a radio, changing stations, while you continue to get high. The results end up showing another facet of psychedelia, i.e. the one that doesn't seem scary, because there is something comforting about Shpongle.
