Another sketch for my "Wacky Cartoon Portrait" series. I'm really enjoying drawing characters with one eye at the moment, if you couldn't already tell ;-) I did the initial sketch using a Papermate mechanical pencil with erasable purple leads in it. Here is the finished inks for the first one of my new "Wacky Cartoon Portrait" series. I posted the sketch of this one earlier in the week. Now all I need to is scan it and work some digital magic on it. A bit of a "happy accident" on this one, the pencils for this had his name as "Jeff". But I wrote it as "Jeef" for some reason, but I like that better anyway! Here's another in my "Wacky Cartoon Portrait" series that I'm working on at the moment. This is just the initial pencil sketch. First I did the rough sketch using a blue erasable Staedtler Noris pencil. Then I went over it with a Faber-Castell 2B pencil. So I've been working on yesterday's drawing some more and I had the idea of adding a name plaque to the bottom of the picture frame. Ok, I know it's been a long time since I posted some artwork. I've still been drawing, I just haven't been in a sharing mood for a bit is all, I'm not sure why. I think I just haven't been finishing a lot, which is a bad habit of mine. So I'm going to post a lot more progress stuff, like sketches to motivate me to complete more pieces. Anyway, I'm back now that's all that matters. So I've been getting right into doing these wacky, cartoon style portraits of late. Like this one! This is the initial character sketch of it, I used an erasable red Staedtler Noris pencil first, then I went over that with a Faber-Castell 2B pencil. There's still a lot more to do on this one, like adding a frame and a background, then I have to ink and colour it. I hope you like it, I'll be posting a lot more of these portrait sketches soon and then the progress on them as I go.
