Big ol' shirtless Monstroso in "The Silent Partners."
What is the difference between an error trap and a glitch? I just saw this term used twice recently and it's new to me despite being interested in pokemon glitches for some time.
To quote the Glitch City Wiki: "An error trap[…] is a preventative measure used to avoid the effects of glitches, such as freezes or to prevent crashing. A common example of an error trapper is the infamous "This program has caused an illegal operation" message in Windows 95 and 98."
One of the most famous examples of this in Pokemon is the Bad Egg from Generations III/IV. When a Pokemon's data becomes corrupted, the game performs a check on it. If the Pokemon's checksum is invalid, then the game turns it into the (relatively) safe Bad Egg, instead of letting it become a more volatile glitch Pokemon. Decamark from Gen III is like this as well.* It was given a placeholder sprite that was deliberately coded in, rather than letting the game generate volatile sprites from unintended places in the game's code like Gen 1 and 2's glitchmon. * (Though Decamark can be volatile in some ways too - after all, there's 65,097 unique variants of them, all with various glitched typings and moves!)
Another example of an error trap in Pokemon is the Rhydon error trap from RGBY. This trap will turn any glitch Pokemon with an invalid Pokedex number (such as 000 or 151<) into an ordinary Rhydon upon capture. This trap is easily circumvented though- If the game considers the glitch Pokémon to have already been registered as being owned in the Pokédex, then the glitchmon will be captured without being transformed into Rhydon. (For example, the flag for seeing a Cubone is the same as the flag for owning a MISSINGNO., so seeing a Cubone will prevent a MISSINGNO. from turning into a Rhydon upon capture.)
However, the glitchmon will still occasionally be displayed as Rhydon. It will have Rhydon's cry on the summary screen, and will even turn into a Rhydon if you look at the glitchmon's summary while it's deposited in the PC. (This is reversible by putting it in the Daycare, though!)
In Pokemon Stadium 2, there is an error trap that permanently turns all of your glitchmon into an ordinary Ditto.
Sorry if that's a lot of information! But I hope it helps clarify the difference between a glitch and an error trap.
TLDR; An error trap is meant to catch and prevent glitches or crashes!

✦ So, his signature scent is cigars and cologne. And what's even better is that it lingers. Wherever he goes, it's just there. ✦ His love language would be gift giving. Anything for you, anytime too! ✦ He's extremely possessive, mainly because of the Investors and their connection to the guild (him included). Safety is a key factor in your relationship with him. Needless to say, you're in good hands. ✦ Vacations with him!! He plans everything out by looking into the most romantic places to go. Then, he will have you both indulge in some amorous action. Sightseeing, walking on the beach, etc. ✦ Being 13 feet tall has its perks. You are tiny compared to him. Sitting in his lap is a surreal experience, because you don't even take up much room. He'll slightly cradle your form to his. ✦ Wearing his clothes just warms his heart. It goes even deeper if you fall asleep in something of his. They're so big that it feels like a big hug from him. ✦ He adjusts you to sleep on him. Like I said, you don't take up much space on him. So when it comes time, you sleep on his chest. He rests a hand on you with the covers blanket over you both. ✦ Dude picks you up like it's nothing, regardless of weight. He'll do this without warning to literally sweep you off your feet and smother you in kisses. ✦ He'll catch himself with this sometimes, but he'll hum love songs while he's doing paperwork.
