Dragon 156, April 1990, presented 12 D&D monsters that were supposed to be jokes, in the tradition of past April Fool’s issues. But in a game that already included the flail snail, the wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing , and the sheet phantom, these seem like business as usual. The tin golem is kind of how i saw Eberron’s warforged when they appeared. The gello monster is a straightforward gelatinous cube variant except it is best defeated by eating it. The tickler, difficult to see and hit when in flight, never made it as a dungeon defender but apparently found a second career at Hogwarts. (Mark Nelson illus)
