(Gifted) BOOK REVIEW: Monstrous Devices by Damien Love 🤖 . I’ve been in a huge reading slump this past month but I’ve finally come out of it and finished Monstrous Devices, a middle grade adventure centred around a boy and his grandfather as they go on a trip around Europe fighting off bad guys and robots. 💪🏻 . I thought this was a fun read. It’s very different from what I usually read, being the first middle grade book I’ve read in a while and the first one about robots, ever! So it took getting used to, but you’re very much eased into the story. The pacing did seem a little off in the middle, I felt it took a bit too long for the reader to find out what the story was *really* about. I should add that I did not know this was the first in a series. 😅 If I had, I probably would have had different expectations. I am very excited to read the next book, however, because I feel like this has the potential to be quite a dark middle-grade story which I’m totally in favour of. 🙌🏻 .
