          Things were getting better. Slowly, but it was a sure truth as certain as Bella was now a vampire which in itself was a major relief now that Bree wasn’t faced with the constant temptation to rip into her. She started Forks high school and that sucked when she was attending it by herself, the small, lonely new Cullen in town... but even that one day would end. Give or take three more years of social torment and high school. Looking at it from the bright side, there was only up.

          Bree stepped out of the house to hunt. Rather than zoom toward her next meal, she approached the sound of deer at a leisurely walk, stopping only as soon as a gentle breeze carried her a scent---

That scent. His scent.

          She whooshed, fast and angry and with the force fueled by a dozen concerning thoughts -Why was he here? What did he want? Is he going to hurt them, her new family?- and slammed into Riley, pinning him to a tree with her arm shoved against his chest. She may have been on a strict diet of animal blood, but Bree was still only several months within being turned. And she had turned much later than Riley. She was younger, stronger. And she was angry, the hurt she had buried over Diego’s death and over his lies and manipulation boiling back to the surface. She hissed and bared her teeth, black eyes boring into his with a previously unknown -no, hidden- ferocity.

                𝚒𝚝’𝚜 𝚋𝚎𝚎𝚗 𝚏𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚢 - 𝚎𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝 𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚜 𝚜𝚒𝚗𝚌𝚎 𝚜𝚑𝚎 𝚜𝚊𝚟𝚎𝚍 𝚑𝚒𝚖 .  fourty - eight hours since he didn’t know that he needed to be saved ,  or that he could be saved .  this tiny ,   miracle of a girl reached out her hand and he took it ,  like it was the only thing he could do ,  like it was the most obvious thing in the world .  he’s staring at her now .  he can’t help it ,  he has himself half convinced that he’s finally lost it .  she’s been telling him about their future and his anxiety is as palpable as the burn in his throat .  he attempts to reign it in ,  to snap it back like a rubber - band before it reaches her .  he feels like a fraud .  ‘ alice . . . i don’t . . . i don’t think i’m the person that you seem to think i am . ’

bless it's love emma hours! your portrayal of jace is so incredibly detailed and beautiful. i love everything! especially the way you explain his thought process and your choice of dialogue is just perfection. your portrayal is both true to canon and to your own unique spin!
