āiām--- i could use both, thank you!ā bree mumbled, blushing with the fresh animal blood coursing in her veins. esme really didnāt have to, but still, bree found herself smiling, golden eyes lighting up with eager delight as she took hold of the bag and peeked inside at the assortment of colors her mother had gotten her. the newborn had only recently started drawing, coloring in a secret book she kept hidden in her room with crayola pencils, but the sight of a few more mediums inspired a couple fun ideas.
the mention of school had her pausing. bree hadnāt thought about it too much, though it crossed her mind here and there that sheād have to enroll in forks high school without the rest of the cullens. that she had to enroll in school at all and so soon had her nervous, afraid she might make a mistake. and then there was a more mundane concern: āi--- um, i never. i was usually pretty bad in math, so maybe...?ā school in general had been tedious. she slept poorly and was frequently late, had trouble focusing, and had almost been in trouble for truancy-- all results of her home environment at the time. bree was almost certain she would be behind if she joined the ninth grade now without some help to get her caught up.

āthere is NOTHING wrong with you.ā bree almost felt like telling him he was supposed to be the smartest brother, but registered quickly that this didnāt call for any lightening mood- it was serious. this was serious, because jasper was hurt, because he was thinking he was lesser when he wasnāt. in the few months bree had been with the family she had decided jasper was one of their strongest, and not by the same standards that could be said of any physical strength. he carried the weight and burden of all their emotions every single day, as well as their thirst, and still made his way through to survive every passing hour. bree didnāt know what she could say to persuade him he was wrong, but she wanted to try. āi was in a newborn army, too. it wasnāt different than what you described. we were all crazy most of the time,ā even bree, though not nearly as often as the others, sometimes found herself at the mercy of her own blood lust. even fred, even diego, and riley too, no matter how much he tried to act like their never-do-wrong leader. and sometimes, bree found the lust nagging at her still even when she looked calm on the surface.
she looked up at him, at her oldest brother, debating her next choice of words... but it had to be said, because it was also the truest point: ābellaās just... weird.ā ever the observer, it was one of the most notable things about the vampire joining their family which was just as true even when she was human. bellaās mind couldnāt be read, her scent had called to each of them like a lure more than others of her past kind, and she seemed exempt from the same circumstances that had applied to nearly each of them in their newborn stages with exception to their father and jasperās twin. bree rubbed at her arm. ābesides, didnāt you say she was almost turned once, with venom and everything?ā
bestestā:
SETH HADNāT SEEN HER WHEN HEāD FIRST MET the Cullens, though he wasnāt sure if it was because sheād been there and he hadnāt taken notice or if she hadnāt been a part of their family yet. Either way, when heād seen someone close enough to his age, Seth had been more than a bit excited. He couldnāt even imagine what she must have gone through to get to where she was - and he wasnāt sure they were at the point in their friendship where he could ask - but, thinking about the stories that he had heard, he knew it must have been rough.Ā
The statement caught him by surprise, head turning away from the scenery in front of him to glance at Bree, sitting a couple branches above him. His own piece of the tree shook as he laughed, hand gripping at the trunk so he wouldnāt fall out.Ā Ā ā Wait, so youāre saying you guys canāt do it?Ā āĀ Ā he asked, eyebrows raised in curiosity.Ā Ā
Ā Ā ā You should really get your money back, thatās such a ripoff.Ā ā
āno,ā bree laughed, joy causing her eyes to squint as she peered down at him, watching him struggle to keep himself wrapped to the tree. she doubted heād actually injure himself if he did fall, but just in case, at least she could put some of her new vampire powers to good use and catch him. ābut since so many vampires have powers, i bet thereās one out there that can shapeshift. the rumor had to start somewhere, right?ā
slowly, bree started to stand and faced the trunk. she started to climb higher. āthereās probably a lot out there if we exist. other werewolves and vampires. bigfoot is probably real. ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā itāsĀ beenĀ aĀ littleĀ overĀ aĀ yearĀ sinceĀ herĀ lifeĀ changedĀ foreverĀ inĀ thatĀ danceĀ studio.Ā sheāsĀ beenĀ onĀ theĀ runĀ everĀ since,Ā battlingĀ forĀ controlĀ overĀ herĀ thirstĀ butĀ sheĀ thinksĀ sheāsĀ finallyĀ learnedĀ toĀ controlĀ it.Ā (Ā orĀ atĀ least,Ā sheāsĀ fedĀ enoughĀ andĀ hasĀ returnedĀ toĀ forksĀ toĀ checkĀ inĀ onĀ herĀ father.Ā )Ā theĀ planĀ isĀ toĀ checkĀ onĀ himĀ fromĀ afar,Ā likeĀ sheĀ hadĀ withĀ herĀ motherĀ aĀ fewĀ monthsĀ prior.Ā facingĀ eitherĀ parentĀ rightĀ then justĀ wasnātĀ anĀ option.Ā sheĀ hadĀ noĀ explanationĀ sheĀ couldĀ provideĀ themĀ andĀ hasĀ madeĀ peaceĀ withĀ theĀ factĀ sheĀ canĀ neverĀ returnĀ home,Ā canĀ neverĀ haveĀ aĀ normalĀ lifeĀ again.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā itāsĀ afterĀ midnightĀ whenĀ herĀ fatherĀ leavesĀ theĀ station,Ā whichĀ shouldĀ comeĀ asĀ noĀ surpriseĀ forĀ theĀ brunetteĀ butĀ itĀ definitelyĀ leftĀ herĀ hatingĀ thatĀ factĀ aboutĀ herĀ fatherĀ rightĀ aboutĀ then.Ā (Ā sheĀ didnātĀ planĀ onĀ beingĀ inĀ townĀ thisĀ long.Ā )Ā sheĀ watchesĀ asĀ heĀ climbsĀ intoĀ hisĀ carĀ toĀ driveĀ home,Ā plansĀ onĀ takingĀ aĀ shortĀ cutĀ throughĀ theĀ woodsĀ toĀ beatĀ himĀ there,Ā keepĀ anĀ eyeĀ onĀ himĀ justĀ aĀ littleĀ longer,Ā butĀ someĀ rustlingĀ nearbyĀ distractsĀ her.Ā theĀ stenchĀ ofĀ anotherĀ vampireĀ capturesĀ herĀ attentionĀ andĀ beforeĀ sheĀ canĀ stopĀ herself,Ā curiosityĀ isĀ leadingĀ herĀ inĀ theĀ directionĀ ofĀ theĀ sound.Ā (Ā notĀ aĀ cullen,Ā orĀ atĀ least,Ā sheĀ doesnātĀ thinkĀ soĀ anyway.Ā )Ā Ā
bree has been a cullen for over a few months now since victoriaās attempt to rain her army against edward and the rest of the cullen family. she settled in well, all things considered, and was scheduled to begin the new school year in a two months as a ninth-grade freshman in forks high school. going out a little more often into town seemed appropriate, and it was then she had realized the scent of a vampire lingering nearby.
she tracked it into the forest, debating whether she should go and tell jasper and alice, or string emmett along just in case. before bree could stop herself and flee to her family, she was already stepping closer to the older teen, peeking out behind a bulky tree trunk with bright, gold eyes. ā--- are you a nomad?ā was probably the more important question bree found herself wondering, wary that maybe she had come with a coven or worse, was a scout for the volturi. at that thought, she was quickly regretting having approached her at all, noticing her red eyes.
fuckingvictusā:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā the other will simply give her a look before turning back to look in front of him, rubbing the tense muscles of his neck. even if he could go out in the sun, he always did feel far more energetic during the night. probably didnāt help with his already short temperāā¦which only seemed to get worse with the whole half vampire thing. can you really blame her, though?Ā ācappello?ā heāll walk after her, his own ears tuning into what may have been going on on the boardwalk.Ā āsounds like he might be. i can hear the jazzy sound,ā though he wasnāt going to complain. it was easy to dance with.Ā āhey, is that why you suggested oil?ā a joke, his elbow coming up to softly jab at her arm.Ā
ānooo,ā bree answered, giggling. ācappello was just an after thought. his music is nice to listen to.ā and it tended to hype up a crowd, or maybe it was just the manās energy. he always played his instrument with so much vigor, it was hard not to get caught in the excitement he stirred up from the crowd. the only drawback was sometimes it could get too loud. heightened senses werenāt made to endure crowds for so long, especially when bree was still learning to battle the urge to plunge after peopleās throats when she could hear the blood rushing through their veins. it was worse when their blood was pumping, pulses racing.
when the sound stage started coming into view, bree sat where she could listen to the music and get an ample view of the hundred-something teenagers and adults dancing and pumping their fists into the air. thirst was starting to burn the back of her throat and make her insides itch, meaning she had something else to consider: who she was going to drink tonight.
iām trying really hard to be here, but working full time and all-day shifts leaves me too exhausted to be here after work and since everythingās closed when we get off, that leaves me running errands on my days free so. ; A; please bear with me, i know i owe a lot of people replies on starters and threads but iām tryinnng.
Smell of old dusty books.
letting a traumatized character have their happy ending where they can recover from their trauma will always be a thousand times more powerful than killing them off for shock value

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā Ā Ā Ā whoa. Ā you smellā¦ Ā š°šš¢š«š. Ā Ā Ā ā Ā Ā Ā understatement of the year, Ā dude. Ā she smells like him. Ā or rather - Ā thatās not right. Ā she smells absolutely nothing like him, Ā or elena, Ā or any other werewolf heās come across. Ā it clings to the back of his throat and burns his nostrils, Ā sharp and chemical. Ā tolerable but extremely off putting. Ā like when katia would screw up painting her nails and the house would suddenly be filled with the smell of acetone, Ā a voice in the back of his head offers.
she smells like him in the sense that he can tell sheās something else. Ā not werewolf āĀ but not human,Ā either.Ā and while that alone should be enough to set off all the red flags his father taught him to look out for, Ā this wouldnāt be the first time his curiosity has gotten the better of him. Ā Ā Ā ā Ā Ā Ā i could ask you the same thing. Ā i mean, Ā what kind of ā Ā Ā Ā āĀ Ā Ā Ā voice pitches lower, Ā just in case. Ā Ā Ā ā Ā Ā Ā what kind ofĀ Ā wolfĀ are you ? Ā Ā Ā ā Ā Ā Ā
āa wolf?ā the presumption, though they are on questionable grounds, amuses her enough to pull up a faint, little smile.Ā āiām not a wolf. please tell me i donāt smell like one.ā without meaning to, she takes a quick sniff at her sweater-- she doesnāt, thank god. she just smells like... whatever it is vampires smelled like. they certainly didnāt smell like age-old corpses, at least.Ā āiām a vampire.ā
golden eyes glimpse up at the boy, whose big eyes remind her of seth. he looks innocent, but heās still a wolf. theyāre hundreds of miles from the reservation which means there isnāt any alliance she can depend on to keep her safe from whatever pack he hails from. the reminder has her stepping back from him, nearly afraid as her boots crunch over dead leaves. her body tenses, muscles coiling and readying to spring away from him as bree settles more distance between them. sheās already said too much, that enough could have just put her family in danger.Ā ābut-- but iām not going to hurt anyone!ā
