Some say this stunning Bugatti’s waterfall grille is its most captivating aspect - but I found it’s rear fenders so sculpturally inspiring. This 57C had an adventure due to sociopolitical upheaval at the time the last of the designing Bugattis, young Jean, who died in an accident in 1939 and WW2 broke out. Perhaps with a grim foreboding, Jean sold the rolling chassis to one of his importers who then sent it to a Berlin coach builder, Voll & Ruhrbeck. After the war, the Polish Minister of Transport claimed the car had been stolen from a Polish citizen and confiscated it. After keeping it in his own ~100 car collection for years, some cars were discreetly sold in the 60s. One of the subsequent owners then replaced the exquisite body with an Atlantic replica. We are fortunate today that Jim Patterson intervened to bring the correct, highly unique & artful original body back together with the chassis and had RM Restorations return it to its former glory. It won at Pebble Beach in 2006 and again in 2017 - accolades due to JP and RM! #cabriolet #aerodynamic #coachbuilt #coachbuilder #historicallysignfiicant #RollingSculpture #carhistory #windtunnel #prewar #oldtimer #MontereyCarWeek #MRYCarWeek #MontereyCarWeeks #carweeks #pebblecarweek #2017Pebble #Pebble #2017Concours #Pebble2017 #Concours #DElegance #carphiles #carsofinstagram #JeanBugatti #Bugatti #waterfallgrill #sculpture #artonwheels #carphotos #carphotography #BOC #conservation #BugattiRegistry #marque #carculture
