If we're going to give Cass new siblings can we give her the old ones back too? I want Charlie Gage-Radcliff, Marque, and Mad Dog to all show up in the next issue. Give Cass at least one sibling via all of her parents, make her the center of the most insane family web possible. I want them to get silly with it. I want Cass to offhandedly say "One time my sister tried to kill me" and Steph to look at her totally baffled "Charlie?" "No, Marque." "WHO?" I want the Batboys to ask Cass who her favorite brother is and for her to reply with Tenji and then disappear into the shadows without explaining further. Dick confidently claims that as Cass's only older brother she has to listen to him "Wrong. Mad Dog." before disregarding his advice.

Batgirl 2008 is one of those comics that I notice a lot of Cass fans dislike that I just don't for some reason, lmfao.

Listen, I get it came at a bad time for Cass, but I think there's a lot to like in it.

The Rose/Cass bonding, everything with Marque, the fact that the comic redefines how important Oracle is.

Maybe I'm just biased because it's the first full Cass series I read in its entirety. 😭

Hi! So this might be a strange question but since I've been reading Batgirl 2024, particularly the arc with Shiva and Mei and it got me thinking about what Cass would be like with a sister. Babs is more of a mentor/mother figure to her, or a sister with a big age gap if you squint. And Steph definitely isn't Cass' sister (no matter what WFA have to say about it 😭) And as someone with both sisters and a brother, the relationship between two sisters in comparison to a sister and brother does tend to be different, whether it's cultural or just the fact most girls let their guard down around other girls easier in certain situations (I know this isn't always the case and it really depends on the people but bear with me) so with that view, I'm curious about your take on how Cass would be with a sister close(ish) in age to her? Especially in comparison to Shiva's relationship with Mei and Cass' relationships with her brothers.

Still you lowkey called it with the Mei / Tenji parallels we'll probably get soon). So not a strange question at all, you were really keyed into what Brombal was doing!!!

I also have a brother and a sister and I agree it can be different!! For Cass, I think part of why she got on so well with Stephanie (but also a source of their conflict) was that she was really exploring her gender in that period, and saw Stephanie as someone who could both understand her AND as act as a kind of idealised womanhood. With a sister close in age, I can see Cass doing this sort of comparison as well - like comparing how her sister presents herself, her sister's romantic experiences, her sister's comfort in her gender/sexuality etc. This could indeed be super interesting!

Idk if you're aware but Cass does indeed have a sister, multiple even, but Marque from Batgirl (2008) is who I'm thinking about! I actually think it's interesting that Tenji is a brother from Shiva (or Carolyn's maybe) side, and Marque is a sister from David's! Although she has a bro from David's side too, there is something about David's upbringing with Cass that leans into the way he perceived her femininity (see pink dress, calling her his 'little girl'). Like I think it's significant that Marque is a woman, and it informs the way she and Cass were treated by + perceive their treatment at the hands of David. This David/Marque + Shiva/Tenji dichotomy is actually DELICIOUS now that I'm thinking about it.

Because if Tenji is the Mei to Cass' Yue, in a lot of ways Cass is the Mei to Marque's Yue; as in Cass is softer/lighter to Marque's anger/darkness (at least ideally, BG 2008 is... not good). Lowkey the three of them together could be really cool, exploring not just Cass with a sister vs. a brother but also two siblings from the very opposing legacies of her parents. Batgirl '24 Marque appearance INCOMING!!!
