my courier, mara, once found an old pack of cigars in this dirty, abandoned shack, in some dusty, rat shit filled box. they looked half-rotted and feral but mara lit one up anyway for the #aesthetic and attempted to blow the smoke right in cass' disgusted face. but she's never smoked before and she choked and coughed for about 20 minutes.

oh my god mara sounds so cute i love her..... eli started smoking when she was pretty young and she liked it at first but eventually it just became a habit that she does just because. she’s really fidgety and likes to keep her hands occupied, so mostly she smokes a lot just to give her hands something to do and the smell is like?? somewhat comforting to her, she really likes the smell of smoke

25: How would your OC process the grief caused by the death of a loved one?she wouldn’t lol. she’d drink herself into a fucking coma and punch some walls and break her fingers and then she’d box it all up and shut it away to be dealt with at some point, which is probably never. she was only 12 when her parents died and she got separated from her brother, so she got her entire family ripped from her in one day and she. never really got over that, which is part of why she’s so violently opposed to the idea of letting anyone in and getting to know her because she doesn’t want to get attached to people if there’s a chance they could be taken away from her, like her family was.

27: Does your OC practise any kind of escapism? If yes, what kind?drinking and chems, and i mean lots of drinking, lots of chems. after she gets shot she suffers from painfully severe chronic headaches and she already has a pretty high pain threshold but the headaches are just debilitating, and med-x is the only thing that helps, so it becomes a crutch to keep her functioning and going thru the days. she’ll use any chem really, she doesn’t care, jet, psycho, buffout, she loves it all. she’s always been a heavy drinker tho, even before the bullets she’d down a bottle of whiskey in one sitting, easy.

AHHHHH i’d be Glad 2 talk more about modern eli

modern au eli’s life is pretty similar to canon eli’s life. born in a small city outside los angeles, california, grew up on a small ranch on the coast. her parents are killed in a hit and run when she’s 12 and she and her brother, carlo, get put in separate foster care programs. no one is ever interested in adopting her cos of her standoffish personality and tendency to lash out violently. 

so she spends her teenage years at a foster home and somehow manages to graduate high school. after that, she gets a job, gets fired after a week, gets another job, keeps it for two weeks until she gets bored and quits, and it just becomes a pattern with her, get a new job, stick around for a couple weeks, get fired, or get bored and quit. eventually she saves up enough money to buy a car and have some pocket cash left over, so she takes her small amount of possessions and gets in her car and just. drives. nowhere in particular, just wherever she wants to.

and she does that for years, just drives around, moving around constantly, never staying in any one place long enough to establish herself anywhere, living in her car, sleeping on the sides of roads. she takes up selling drugs to make some quick cash, eventually takes up using drugs just because. gets caught and gets a misdemeanor conviction at 24, spends a year in jail in arizona. gets out, turns 25, decides to try to settle down and get a steady job. she moves to nevada and rents out the shittiest cheapest apartment she can find and spends months trying to get a job, but the misdemeanor and jail time make it hard.

eventually she’s able to get a job as a postal worker and its boring as shit but the pay isn’t bad and she’s by herself all day, so no coworkers or bosses hanging over her shoulder, and she doesn’t have to worry about pissing anyone off, just delivering mail, and it’s not fun but it pays the bills. and she holds that job down for a few months before she gets shot in the head while delivering a package one day and somehow makes a miraculous recovery and immediately sets off on an ill-advised quest for revenge across multiple states and eventually gets to vegas and meets the man who shot her and promptly sleeps with him

so, wow, tl;dr modern au eli is pretty much the same as canon eli, just feat. a lot more Teen Angst

modern au eli would be your average every day mailman, she goes through a lot of jobs before finally landing the postal service job and she manages to keep it for a few months before getting shot by a human checkerboard
