Monty Cold FVEGO Album Release
Last Saturday His Coldness, Monty Cold, released his highly anticipated album FVEGO. The 16 track banger shows great growth from the already diverse and agile spitter. Featuring production from PVRP Deadington, Foots x Coles of Marlee and the Mixx, and Evan Hall with mix and mastering by V Da Don and PL on the Beat FUEGO takes you on a trippy bass heavy journey with Monty's baritone bars in close tow.
Normally we would drop this news as soon as it hit. However, as longtime Monty supporters. an average release post wouldn't do. We decided to sit with the project for a full week and let it become a part of our day to day here at theWKND to see how we truly felt about the project.
First of lets start by saying this is not a project that comes off as that of a local artist. Matter of fact going forward the local title shouldn't even be a measure... its either dope or it ain't. This is a DOPE project that's polished and encompasses the title. FVEGO starts with a fitting intro track that prepares you for the ride. Checkout standouts YEE, Allat ft. NatureBoi, Faded ft. Wordplay, Windows 97 ft. Mello, Wolf ft. Al Chike and Ez.
The variety of production styles and influences displayed by the production team assist in Monty showing off his versatility on tracks that manage to blend dizzying rhythmic flow with quotables that stick with you just the same.

A Disgusting Track
Literally. I mean Fish Grease? A track with that name has to be disgusting. And trust me - it is. Not to be confused with the salty, slightly pungent but delicious Vietnamese sauce, Fish Grease pairs up rapper Monty Cold with one of my favorite trap artists/producers Louis Futon. Monty's flow sits right on top of a deep beat that has an old school feel - I can't help but think of Pharrell every time I hear that xylophone-like sound. Strangely enough, Fish Grease is apparently an east coast term that's supposed to mean super fly or ballin'. The East coast is weird, man.
