The Streaming War Has Begun: Warner Bros Sending ALL 2021 Films to HBO Max for FREE
Warner Bros is coming for heads and I’m all the way here for it…
In an unprecedented move, Warner Bros. announced Thursday that all 17 films on its 2021 slate will launch on HBO Max the same day they hit theaters — a model that was previously announced for the release of “Wonder Woman 1984.” In a statement, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar doubled down on the fact that this was a necessary response to the COVID-19 pandemic, saying, “We see an opportunity to do something firmly focused on the fans, which is to provide choice. Whether that choice is to enjoy a great new movie out at the cinema, to open up HBO Max, or to do both.”
Yes.. ALL SEVENTEEN MOVIES!!!
Here’s their video announcement
The announcement seems to have the internet split in their reactions. While I have empathy for my film makers and theater lovers, I personally love watching movies with my home set up. With Rona running rampant through the country, Im not exactly in a rush to be sitting in a packed theater. Warner Bros seems to realize many Americans are feeling the same as me and decide to flex bigger than any DSP i’ve seen in decades.
The movies will be available to HBO Max the SAME MF DAY they release in theaters!
