Do you have any tips on gaining followers?

Not exactly, no. Interact with people who share the same interest as you, maybe?! 

And... don't worry about your follower count. In the end it doesn't mean jack. Because what good does it do when you've got 50k followers and all of them ignore whatever you have to say or post since they're only there to boost the counter? ;)
