Helga on the Couch!

There's just so much in that one episode. We get a focus on Helga and her mental state, she finally gets SOME sort of help from an adult she can trust, and we also got the origin of shortaki. Nothing beats them meeting when they're preschoolers in the rain, Arnold offering up the first sign of help and attention Helga receives on such a crappy day; shelter from the rain with his umbrella and then sharing his crackers when she gets picked on. No one ever noticed her until he did. You get to see exactly how she came to be and why she is how she is.

thinking about haley shortman & some kid saying her bow is really pretty when they're in preschool & she instantly starts to feel weird but doesn't know wth is happening to her & she's such a superhero dork that she auto decides its bc he's the villain to her super hero & using some weird evil magic

and she must investigate him periodically to find a way to undo it, but she's sneaky about it, he can't know she's on to him, when really she's crushing hard and has some of her mom's tendencies in her (not nearly as bad but like, they're There). it's not something she spends all her time doing, but every time the kid's nice to her/near her she's like 'oh right' and restarts her mission. and every time she finds out more about the kid and it gets worse lol

she doesn't tell anyone else so like, in vicente's eyes, she's got some weird beef with the nice kid in her class but as long as she isn't being mean to him he shrugs it off.

Haley knows about how H+A first meet but they don't go too into detail bc they're kids and she doesn't connect any dots bc she doesn't get what romantic love is yet. No, these weird feelings are definitely the work of some evil plan to keep her from saving the world or something.

meanwhile the kid kind of admires her for always sticking up for others, bc he too likes super heros.

Hey Arnold Girl Gang AU txt

It’s come to my attention that I never actually shared the details I’d written down for this AU so here we are!

FTI happens. TJM doesn't happen.

Family situation getting worse for Helga in 6th grade. Ends up running out at night at some point. Gets into trouble, is saved by a cool teenager,senior hs, (Angie) on a motorbike. Helga refuses to go home at first, Angie sees this and knows she'll try to run for it if she presses the issue. Lets her hang out with her for a while and ride the bike. Once Helga's feeling better she agrees to go home, Angie drops her off, lets her know where to find her if she ever feels it's too much. Helga takes her up on it. Angie becomes a good sister figure for her. Angie lets her meet up with her bike crew, they all treat helga well and accept her, helga loves it there.

Angie has a mission to get back at someone that deeply wronged her in the past, get justice/put them away. It's difficult bc they're rich, and powerful with connections.

As Helga hangs out with her more, her and Phoebe start to have problems bc Phoebe thinks Helga's getting into bad things w/ bad pple. They fight in 8th grade and don't talk to each other for months.

Angie is killed in an accident the summer before Helga starts HS, the crew know it's faul play and Helga overhears them talking, but there's nothing they can do. Person they're after is too powerful. They all liked Helga and feel bad for her, they give Helga Angie's jacket. Helga is devastated, doesn't know what to do. it's the first time she's lost a loved one, and angie was basically the sister she wish she always had. She runs, tears falling, to Phoebe's house. Phoebe opens the door and sees Helga's state and immediately forgets being angry and takes her in. Helga explains everything, she never wanted to talk about Angie to Phoebe before, but now Phoebe understands. Helga makes it her mission to finish what Angie started, but she can't do anything then. A long the way she helps other girls out like Angie helped her and she gets her own gang she's leader of without really trying to be by jr year, but she soon realizes having as much help and resources as possible will be advantageous so she allows it. They're considered outcasts and dangerous b/c they're like, vigilante justice types, and don't bother to correct bad rumors. If pple think they're just a regular bad gang it keeps eyes away from whatever the true goal/operation is. Which is Helga getting vengeance for Angie.

Arnold is kind of pining in the bg lol The more closed off Helga got and the more different classes they had as they grew up made it so they didn't interact much but he was always still curious about her bc of FTI. He doesn't buy the rumors completely but is concerned, and in HS decides he's gonna try and rekindle the friendship and maybe eventually talk to her about FTI. Gets roped into the mess and realizes his feelings for her at some point.

Bonus shortaki scene that i could potentially still possibly sketch out at some point but we’ll see.

Arnold leaves umbrella with kitten he found in a box near and before school. “Don’t worry little guy, i’ll come back for you after school lets out”. After school he's thinking about Helga as he makes he way back to the kitten to take him to a foster or something.  pple think she changed for the worse but he knows better. He was afraid of all the rumors too at first but paid closer attention to her and realized she still pretended not to care about anything but actually cares a lot.

looks up and sees helga looking down at kitten. She picks it up and puts it in her leather jacket. It's started raining by then. Arnold's touched by this, debates with himself, looks at umbrella, makes a decision and runs after her/calls out to her.

Helga stops, eyes shocked, but then resigned/ frustrated and without looking back walks faster. "Helga Please!" she stops, sighs in exasperation/rolls eyes. Arnold catches up, 'Can I walk you home?' *flat* "No." "But-!" "How many times do I have to yell at you to leave me alone, Arnold?" He misses Football Head. "You know I can't do that" "Well then maybe you should learn t-" "Look. If you don't want me to walk you home that's fine, but at least take the umbrella ok?" "And what about you, genius?" "My place is right around the corner, you still have a couple blocks to go. You need it more, especially if you want to help that little guy out" Helga looks down at kitten who meows. "..." "Come on, you can give it back tomorrow at school, ok?" Offers it to her, makes her flashback to preschool, eyes soften. Takes umbrella, "I owe you nothing." "Not a thing", big smile. "Well, why are you just standing their like an idiot, start running before I change my mind" "Oh! Right! See you tomorrow Helga!" "... god dammit."

Helga won't admit it ,bc she had long since put out the fire for that old flame, but the reason she felt compelled to take the kitten was bc it has green eyes the same shade as a certain annoying football headed blonde. And the fact that it was just abandoned there in the rain hit close to home for her as well.
