“Oh, come on, Lisbon, you’re perfect,” Jane says, cutting off whatever ignoble protest had been blooming on her tongue. “A pair of strappy heels, a little lipstick —”
“I’m gonna kill you, Jane,” Lisbon says sharply, and he laughs in that unserious, unbothered way that is almost always in response to Lisbon being very serious and very bothered.
The others are already talking surveillance, transport, operational budget; as if she hasn't just been handed the most asinine, unprofessional, degrading assignment she can possibly imagine.
“But it’s…” Lisbon says, to nobody in particular. “It’s a Tuesday.”
“Yes, Agent. And the pageant begins on Friday. Your undercover training starts as soon as you sign these, please. Congratulations, Miss CBI."
happy holidays & happy new year @katescully! I hope you like this to start... and more to come this week!
Metagross is the de facto leader of Steven’s team of course - they were gifted to him as a Beldum from his father after Trainer School. They have a psychic link with Steven and can communicate telepathically with him.
Aggron is the second in command and the most brute-like of the team, always gearing up for a fight. He can be bought easily with sweet things though…
Skarmory usually works as transport and can be very mischievous and playful, and it’s rubbed off on Armaldo too. He’s always down to clown but he loves his master the most.
Claydol was caught just before the fossil siblings! She’s the most chill of all the Pokemon, and often acts as the voice of reason. She also has a telepathic link with Steven but it’s not as strong as Metagross’s so it only activates when the feelings are very strong.
The fossil siblings were found together in Mirage tower, but their personalities are exact opposites. Armaldo idolizes Skarmory and has taken after his mischievous personality whereas Cradily is much more stoic like Claydol. However Armaldo is a very curious creature and always wants to find out what’s going on. Cradily only gets really upset if either Steven or Armaldo are affected, otherwise she’s super chill.
steve harrington/eddie munson, sea mythology, scotland, 1980s, mystery, angst with a happy ending, internalised homophobia, pining, pov steve harrington.
In the small Scottish village of Gullkins, there is something stirring in the water.
Steve was never meant to care for sea monsters or other sick fairytales. He had intended to follow in his father’s footsteps by studying engineering, marrying the prettiest girl he could drag back to the village, then going into the oil business and living out his days commuting to and from the manor looming over the cottages. But when dead Will Bailey comes floating into the harbour, coughing with life once again, an inexplicable flood of danger starts to approach the shore.
There's a wee eejit named Duncan bullying him into fighting sea beasts, a mother who disappears at night to sing by the water, a lost boy hidden in smoke by the caravans on the cliff side, Billy the Bear and his strange fiancée as his neighbours, a girl named Robin who hears foreign voices beneath the tide banks, and an orphan who screams bloody magic living as Policeman Hooper’s foster.
No one is safe. The sea is hungry, and it will swallow whoever it wants in revenge.
Extracurriculars. Honestly the idea of a boarding school with Zero activities other then some student run clubs is a bit absurd. So imma fix it.
Now most of these activities are based around camp activities because honestly what is camp but entertainment for children that adults organise outside of school. I think that at some point a sports rec centre was built to help facilitate the sports side and all the other activities can be run out of classrooms. Most of them are called clubs just for ease of naming at this point in time.
So for the list of possible clubs both past and present:
Archery
Choir
Book club
Bee keeping
Séance society
Film
Photography
Gaming
Robotics
Drama
Pottery
Canoeing/kayaking
Camping
Dance
Art (this one gets split up into sculpture and painting/drawing depending on the day)
Hiking
Gardening
Crafting (colloquially it’s known as as the stitch and bitch club but ya know gotta keep it school appropriate)
Music (there are several student bands and one teacher one. There’s also a mixed student and teacher band, once Wednesday joins the school someone catches her and Larissa doing a duet in the music classroom and blackmail them to join. (It was Enid))
There are also several sports teams that can be joined and for that, because I’m lazy just imagine you’re normal school sports in America. (yes including colour-guard. (No I’m not spelling that the american way)) These are all held in the sports centre which has all of the equipment to handle all sports related things and most of the equipment for the more sporty clubs.
Now most of the of the clubs are student run but they do have to have adult supervision if there is a chance of injury or if they are going off of school property. Teachers are also allowed to join if they are interested in the club. So for example most of the PE teachers are part of either the hiking or camping clubs.
Larissa was part of the crafting club as a student and still attends it as a teacher and later on as the principal. She doesn’t often join the gossip but because she spends some of her time with the vampire part of the student body she is keyed into most of the gossip. So if someone is bitching about a situation going on she likes to give perspective and help the students out with whatever is going on.
Enid is also part of the crafting club and really enjoys sitting next to Larissa and listening to her talk about her week. Larissa has really taking to having Enid next to her and likes to teach her new crafting techniques.
Most clubs are held in the morning before breakfast. The rest are all held in the evening after dinner. And all clubs hold half day meets every weekend. Most clubs also organise school wide activities once a month to showcase what they’ve been doing and to get people interested in joining.
Thats all for now. Up next more on Wednesdays time at the school because I keep putting that off.

One latte, and one coffee with extra cream and sugar. Psi ordered for them, allowing Horns more time to settle. The walk had done its job, grounding him and helping him clear his head, but Psi kept a close eye anyway. He knew it likely was not necessary, but his own nerves were getting to him a little, having been through much the same experiences once before.
Horns leaned his head back on the edge of the booth they were in, staring up at the ceiling as he simply said, "Thank you."
"I am glad to have helped." Psi replied, hesitating at his next words. "I will admit I was worried when I found the first signs of Fear Gas."
"Have you...?" Horns swung his head back into neutral to look inquisitively at Psi.
Psi simply nodded before taking a sip of his latte, eyes downcast.
"Oh..." Horns didn't really know what to say.
"It was..." Psi sighed. "It's not real, and that’s what matters."
"So how did you come back from it?" The Satyr asked.
"It takes time, as with all things." Psi shrugged. "And I will encourage you to take that time as well. Caring for one's self is important."
“Yeah,” Horns scoffed. “so you keep telling me.”
“I’m hoping one day you might actually listen to it.” Psi shot back.
“Is that- was that…” Horns laughed slightly. “Was that sass, Mr. Psi?”
“Perhaps.” Psi took another sip of his latte to hide his smirk. “But my message still rings true. I don’t like seeing you neglect yourself, and you do so far too often. You are part of a team, now, and your mistreatment reflects on them no matter how much you hide it.”
Horns let out an uncomfortable sigh through his nose. “I know, I know. It’s just…”
“Go on.” Psi prodded. “I’m here to listen.”
“For so long it was just… survive. Get by, keep going, don’t listen to them. Run when they ball their fists, and don’t trust them when they don’t.” He said. “I’ve settled with this team, of course. But it’s just-”
“Instinct.” Psi offered the word knowingly.
“Yeah.” Horns nodded.
“But you are not there anymore.” Psi insisted. “You are here. In Dashland. With a team who have always shown you their undivided love and support. Who would do anything for you, stand against anything for you. You do not have to be so afraid anymore.”
“I know, I know, I know!” Horns groaned. “And they’ve been great. And Gamma, and you, but-”
“But nothing.” Psi insisted. “Either we have been supportive, or we have not been. It’s time you decided that, and accepted your decision. Staying in between is unfair to you, and to us.”
Horns looked into his coffee.
“My apologies.” Psi sighed almost self-consciously. “You have been through an ordeal and don’t need this-”
“No.” Horns stopped him. “I… thank you. I needed to hear that.”
Psi nodded. “We are not going anywhere, Horns.”
“You got that right!” Callow’s booming voice had Horns jumping as he turned. “Oh, shit, sorry. I didn’t mean to-”
“It’s fine, it’s fine.” Horns assured him. “What are you guys doing here?”
“Once the local force saw the fear gas and heard someone had been hit, they were practically scrambling over themselves to let us go.” Glitch slid into the booth next to him and butt her head gently against his shoulder. “They understood that we’d want to be with our teammate.”
Horns put his arm around her shoulder and reached out to scratch Jolly behind the ear as she squeezed onto the bench. “That’s… thanks, guys.”
“You can thank us after we’ve had bacon.” Callow pulled up a chair as Gamma slid into the booth next to Psi. He waved down their waitress. “Menus, please! It’s on me.”
“Cal-”
“I’ll never forgive myself for leaving you back there.” Horns leaned back against the confines of the booth at Callow’s abrupt change in tone. “Seriously.”
“You couldn’t have known, none of us could.” Horns said.
“Doesn’t matter.” Callow insisted. “You know I would do anything for you.”
Horns closed his eyes with a sigh. “I- I do, it’s just-”
“Hey.” Callow drew Horns’ attention back and gave a sharp tug on his ear. A silent signal for those in the loop. “I mean it.”
“So how are you doing?” Jolly asked, jabbing two fingers into Horns’ side in a half-tickling, half-attention grabbing gesture as she reached behind Glitch.
“Oh, I-” He gave a slight laugh as Callow flicked a menu across the table to him. “I’d almost forgotten about it in,” he glanced at Psi. “everything.”
"And?"
“It’s… complicated. I guess in some ways I’m better than ever.” He said. “In there, I saw- I saw you all leave. Me. Give up, realize what I’ve always felt; that I wasn’t worth your time, that you’re better off without me. That I’m just-” He looked to Callow. He couldn’t say it, not in front of his mentors, not yet. But from his friend’s earlier gesture, he hoped the team would get the insinuation. “It wasn’t even like the gas made me see something that wasn’t there. That worry… it’s ever-present.”
“But you know we’re not going anywhere.” Gamma reiterated.
“I- I do. I know that now.” Horns nodded, mostly to himself. “It’s always been my biggest fear, but it’s unfair to you all. You’ve only ever shown me kindness and love. You’ve made me feel safer than I ever have before, and I can’t even imagine where I’d be now if you hadn’t. I am who I am today because of you all, and there’s no way I’ll be able to thank you enough for that.”
“You don’t need to thank us. We do so willingly.” Glitch rubbed soothing circles into his back. “You’ve done the same thing for all of us, and we’re all the richer for having known you.”
Horns looked around the booth, his soul igniting with each nod from each member of his team. His family. When he smiled, it felt like he was ten pounds lighter. “I’m going to do better. For you, and for me. I’m not going to let that fear control me anymore, I know you guys have my back, I know you won’t disappear on me. It’s time I stopped living in the past.”
“You’re still gonna keep the typewriter though, right?”
The laughter from Callow’s joke helped break the moment, and with menus cracked open, their conversations turned to lighter topics of coffee and pancake eating contests. Horns had been unsure if he’d actually be able to live up to such a bold statement, but as he sat there, surrounded by his family, he felt an old tension ease from deep within him. Psi was right, it was time to choose. And he had no problem choosing them over fear.
Me thinking of flannery and Steven sharing old timey milk shakes on a date kicking my feet and squealing flannery always shares her food with Steven (because she wants to get a little bit of his as well) and Steven always orders extra broccoli on the side for her because my girl loves veggies she’s as cute as a bunny
@bxrningdragxn and I made some headcanons about Steven’s family possibly celebrating lunar new year bc of course ‘Tis the season after all!!
Steven definitely adheres to the tradition of new clothes every new year :)) he probably doesn’t wear the traditional prosperous colours but definitely leans towards shades of dark blue/forest green for his suit (no grey/black bc bad luck!!) but he does wear a nice red tie/cravat! On a year that he’s feeling extra festive, he wears patterns!
His dad’s side of the family is small, so it’s mostly his mum’s side that come to visit. His mum’s family is definitively less well off so reunion dinner is always held at the Stone mansion.
Steven’s cousin used to be pretty decent but grew up alongside the golden boy with the silver hair so has a chip on his shoulder, he’s always trying to one-up him by showing off his wife and his new glittery watch, or that his child’s in Oxford’s kindergarten programme, the rest of his cousins are just kinda /there/, most are just showing up as an obligation lol and waiting for those big red packets from daddy stone’s pocket
His aunties are no better are is always trying to be nosy like “when are you getting a partner, oh you haven’t taken over Devon yet hmmm, did you lose/gain weight this year” or are boasting abt their kids
Honestly Joseph and Steven hate it but to honour Mum’s memory (named Sharon in my hc) they still have them around every year
Steven’s favourite part is to play with his nieces and nephews because even though they remind him of his youth playing with his cousin before he got obsessed with being better than him
But but his relationship with his cousin improves when he finally gets an s/o because they give the cousin a firm talking to the first time they come round, cos cousin makes a snarky comment abt him and s/o straight up is like “why are you saying such mean things abt him? Are you jealous of him? Lny is about the family gathering again after a long year, he’s travelled a long way to see you and the rest of the family at his dad’s home and he always looks forward to catching up with you, please respect him as much as he respects you” and cousin is like damn… my bad
And yes they eat lots and lots and lots of lny snacks! also Steven matches outfit themes w his s/o once they come into his life :))
