Multi-talented doesn’t even begin to describe FINNEAS, the singer songwriter and producer who’s impressed us not only as a solo artist but also as co-creator of Billie Eilish’s greatest hits. This undeniable rising force in pop, who gave me one of my most memorable sets at SXSW earlier this year when he played an acoustic set at a church in Austin, continues to captivate with his unique sonic gems on College. This is no bland vanilla pop that he’s served up. College is a dynamic anthem that morphs from earthy, moody pop into glitchy shivering, electro-charged pop as it advances. It’s apparent to all that FINNEAS is an artist to watch, but College more than cements that status with its brooding yet cathartic pop. FINNEAS has emerged as a staple in his sister Billie's live band, playing keys, guitar and backup vocals, and this fall he will once again be joining his sister on the road for her sold-out US tour, but I have to wonder when his solo brilliance is going to lead to him focusing solely on that rising trajectory. Or, it’s possible FINNEAS is superhuman and he could balance both with ease. Somehow, I wouldn’t be surprised. Listen to FINNEAS on Spotify, here.
