1, 5 (for any of your stories, not just multichaptered), 18, & 29 ??
1) How old were you when you first starting writing fanfiction? Oh gosh, maybe 12 or 13, so, uh, like two decades ago Y I K E S. Sometimes I feel bad for still writing fanfiction like I should level up and pursue other types of writing, but for me it’s like a type of therapy. I probably dabbled a bit here and there with Buffy and other tv shows but the first fic I remember clearly was a long, thirty-chapter, dramatic fic for X-Men: Evolution, a cartoon that aired Saturday mornings circa like 2000. It was posted on ff.net and thankfully has been lost to the sands of time.
5) If you had to choose a favourite out of all of your multi chaptered stories, which would it be and why? Of all my fics, liminality + tunnel vision are probably my favorites just because I loved inhabiting that dreamy, love-drenched universe so much. they’re not technically linked stories, but I think of them as sequential.
18) Do you have any abandoned WIP’s? What made you abandon them? SO MANY! my google drive isa battle field strewn with the empty shells of stories I gave up on. This year alone, I have amassed six 8 - 10K fics that I’ve abandoned entirely across various fandoms: elite, the society, succession, animal kingdom, rnm. YIKES!!! I tend to meander around in characters’ heads for a very large number of words and then I kind of go is this… going anywhere? And I realize: no. My biggest regret is not finishing my liminality trilogy -- I have about 12K of a final installment in that series called dream state that takes place over the next several years after the end of tunnel vision that kind tries to find resolution for most of the characters as they pass in and out of Dizzee’s orbit while he’s doing his art thing: Zeke attends and drops out of college to pursue music, Mylene and the girls’ movie is filmed but barely released, Regina and Yolanda both come back: they get a place together in upper Harlem and Yolanda pursues a smaller local music career while Mylene’s star continues to rise until it’s so distant and bright it’s blinding (in my mind she kind of has a Whitney-ish career), Boo becomes a boss in the Bronx, Shao’s sad lonely story gets sadder with a hint of hopefulness. I still think about finishing it sometimes. I wanted to explore how happiness/fulfillment can come in both big and small ways.
29) Do you have a story that you feel doesn’t get as much love as you’d like? LMAO i feel like people really didn’t like my last story, which super bummed me out and I’m trying not to take as a like a judgment on me as a person.
